Realistic Baseball - The Show '14 - sliders by mlbguy4life

    Hello,

If you want to play some realistic baseball , with some good game variety , then you have come to the right place. The slider set posted below is in the vault, so please download from there. Just like the title says , its called " REALISTIC BASEBALL " by PSN mlbguy4life

It works perfect on ALL STAR & HOF
I personally use classic/timed , but it should work with the other methods just as well.

Part of it being realistic, is the fact that I turn every on screen indicator OFF
NO pitch command, guess pitch, runner windows, ball markers, etc...

Use any method of play that you choose, and feel free to adjust, this is just how I play...

All I ask is that if you do download my slider set, please rate it ( in game )

    SLIDERS / 0-10 ( 0 being far left, 5 in the middle, 10 far right )

    human contact - 5
    human power - 4
    human timing - 5
    stride difficulty - 5
    human foul frequency - 8
    human solid hits - 3
    human starter stamina - 5
    human reliever stamina - 3
    human pitch control - 4
    human pitch consistency - 4

    CPU - same as above

    CPU strike frequency - 3
    CPU manager hook - 5
    CPU pickoffs - 5
    pitch speed - 10
    fielding errors - 4
    throwing errors - 3
    fielder run speed - 4
    fielder reaction - 6
    fielder arm strength - 4
    baserunner speed - 4
    baserunner steal ability - 4
    baserunner steal frequency - 5
    wind - 4
    injury frequency - 8

    Edit:

I have chosen to use ( foul frequency - 8 ) to simulate real life, I know many other slider sets have this number much lower, which is fine , but does not make for realistic gameplay. The higher the number the more likely you are to hit fouls on borderline swings.

I have chosen ( pitch speed - 10 ) because it actually matches the visual speed of the ball. Any lower number and the ball appears to be traveling slower than the speed thrown. They do this for videogame purposes, which is not realistic. I want to see what a 96mph fast ball really looks like, same for a 82 mph breaking ball away, etc...

Injuries are set at 8 to help replicate the frequency of real life, I would have put it on 10, but personally I don't find enjoyment playing with benchwarmers anymore than I have to.

I will post some of my Franchise box scores so you can see what kind of games I am getting with these sliders. Remember that all scores posted are played not simmed , with classic/timing on ALL-STAR difficulty, and every on screen indicator is turned off. No pitch command, ball markers, API, guess pitch, runner windows of any kind, everything is off to add to the realism, and to keep the screen as clean as possible.

I will give them a shot. I havent played with pitch speed at 10 yet in this version so it may take a few games for me to adjust to that. Ill post some results after I play a few games.

That's cool man, interested in seeing how your games turn out.
I played 3 more games, here's the box scores

          Boston 3-7-1
          New York 1-4-0

          Boston 0-3-0
          New York 2-7-1

          Boston 2-6-0
          New York 6-11-0

New York (me) is now 8-5 , so that's a good start to the franchise.

            Played a game Pirates(me) vs Cubs(CPU)

            I won 4-0

            Cubs 0 9 0
            Pirates 4-6-1

I was able to get out of a couple jams so the cubs played pretty well. I hit two home runs, one with alvarez and one with mccutchen. The strike percentage for both teams was between 62-67% but I did swing at a few too many bad pitches which also kept the cubs pitch count low. Hard to tell after only one game but only downside I noticed was too few walks especially since I had liriano pitching but the strike percentage seemed right so I will play a few more games to see how walks look but so far I like what I see.

The walks per game may vary based on the (human players) personal plate vision, and their pitching skill/aggressiveness, but id say I usually get walked 3 or 4 times a game, depending if I'm feeling swing happy or not, and I usually give up 2 or 3 walks per game, sometimes less. It all depends on the 2 teams playing.

No offense my man but if you are going to title a post Realistic Baseball and then give a narrative on how realistic they are you might want to look at some stats. You're averaging 3.15 runs per game and the cpu is averaging 2.46 (on pace for the lowest is runs allowed in 162 games in MLB history). Miami was horrible last year and they averaged 3.16. You're on pace for 62 shutouts! That would 3 times the number of the league leader last year. I know there is an ebb and flow to baseball but it looks like you're stumbling out of the gate.

the realistic aspect of my slider set is the fact that the ball speed, strike frequency , foul frequency, runner speed, stamina, wind, etc...all of them are as realistic as possible. The rest of the stuff you pointed out is based on game difficulty, player skill / error, and batting / pitching mechanics. No offense " bro " but if you wanna play the game with a slower than real life pitch speed, set it up where you never hit balls foul, never get injured, have perfect pitch placement, and have your tv screen cluttered with "fake video game on screen displays" then you go right on ahead. " bro " I have seen , played, and am aware of all the most popular slider sets out there, and while I'm not knocking them, my slider set is the most realistic, hence the name "realistic baseball"

Most of the slider sets on here have all the aspects you said you're trying to achieve with the added bonus of having realistic statistics. I prefer not having 62 shutouts in a season and you prefer making sure the wind is just right. Simply a matter of opinion. I was just trying to offer some constructive criticism.

Tdogg, ease up. He's only played like 13 games.

Are his stats also setting record lows over 13 total games played?

I'm on the Vita (for now), and have been struggling trying to pin down a slider set that works. Gonna give your a shot bro.

I've played a few games with these sliders, and I feel they are pretty realistic. The only thing thing I noticed that was sort of odd was my outfielders dropping routine catches, but other than that I think they are a very balanced and fun to play with.
