RTTS: Fielding bug?

So in RTTS, the controls for fielding are the following:

(fielder setting)
X=2nd
Triangle=Home
Square=First
Circle=3rd

10-20 percent of the time (I may be exaggerating) the throw would be go to the opposite base. This usually happens with runners on base. For example I'd press X to throw to 2b, but the throw would go to home instead. Another example is I'd press square to throw to 1b, but the throw would go to 3b.

This bug occurs when I play an infield position in RTTS.

Anybody else encounter this problem?

I've seen this too, and it got a little frustrating when I'd field a routine grounder at 2nd and chuck it across the diamond to 3rd instead of first. It doesn't happen often, but enough to be very annoying. It's like the game forgets what setting the fielding controls are on.

I think I found a way to fix it, though - turn the fielding controls back to the normal setting (you can do that in RTTS). Since I did that, I haven't seen it happen once. Since I'm only controlling one player and often I'll know where to throw before the ball is even pitched, it doesn't really affect my ability to play my position. Might be tougher to play an outfield position like that, but then I've never seen this bug occur in the OF.

I've only had that happen once in my 4 year career at 2nd base. I think when it happened I was about even with the mound because I had to run a long way to get to the ball. So I figured it happened because once you are that far past 1st base and turn around to through to first, the square button actually does visually represent 3rd at that point. At least that's how it made since to me after I threw it to 3rd instead of 1st.

Yeah, I've never encountered this in the outfield. It has occurred for me at 1b, 2b, ss. I'm like super utility man right now in the second year.

Just glad it wasn't me that had this problem. I thought I was going crazy.
I guess I'll try out the normal settings. Thanks for the replies.

I've got the PSP version and play 3rd base and have never seen this.

I encountered this in the PSP version. It happened when I was playing second base and shortstop. I was also using the the "fielder" fielding controls.

It has randomly ocurred to me a few times in the PSP RTTS, the first two times i thought that maybe i pressed the wrong button, but later i realized it's a bug, sometimes the controls are reversed for any reason. Not a big problem as it's rare, i have seen it like 5 or 6 times in over 200 games played.
