    Shared Revenue???

So I'm in my Franchise, and just to see how the offseason worked I saved and simmed to the next year. I looked at my budget and I was in the red 57 million or so. A lot of the money was going to shared revenue, how can I keep this number down so I will always have money in my franchise?

    (The Yankees btw)

Hopefully this game will bring to light the fact that big market teams in baseball do actually contribute a lot to small market teams.

      Re: Shared Revenue???

Does that mean I'm simply going to have to live with the fact that I can't buy any upgrade or anything because every offseason I'm going to be so far in debt I'll need every penny possible?

How was your attendance? I'm assuming you put up signage, tv spots, gave away all kinds of free stuff to keep the stands packed?

If attendance is still high maybe you'll have to jack up the ticket prices if you keep winning.

revenue sharing don't matter for **** if there is no cap.
          maximum AND minimum.
sad that baseball is the last N.american sports league without a cap.

anyways, if it's similar to '07, take out loans, as much as u can.
then add seats, vendors, as much as u can. keep advertisingn at max, do giveaways a few times a month etc.
in year 2 or 3 u'll get better billboard deals, TV contracts etc. I just left the price fixing to auto. it seemed to do a descent job.
U'll be making good profit in a year or two
also a weird glitch in '07 made it that PNC park always had double the attendance than the maximum # of seats it held.

            Re: Shared Revenue???

All right so I simmed my season again just to see. The only thing I bought was a charter but after I won the WS I was up 42 million in Budget. I didn't sign any free agent and only resigned my guys.

Now when I advanced to Spring Training I was negative 92 million in Budget. This is ridiculous, I had 105 Million going to shared revenue. How am I supposed to do a franchise If I'm going to be broke every year.

Btw, I had the highest attendance that year and the prices were quite high.

Well I can't improve my field or upgrade anything if I'm in the red. you also can't do promotions or anything like that if your in debt. It's just leading to pissed off players because my field looks like a middle schoolers and I can't do anything about it.

Okay I'll take your word for it, but can you give me an idea on the kind of loans you did (term length and amount) so I don't get over my head and wind up even worse than I began.

if i remember right, i maxed out from the 1st bank (the lowest interest rate), and got some more from the second. and i didn't do too long, long term loans.
winning cures, everything, attracting more ppl to your park, but the increased revenue from your park+vendor upgrades offsets the interest u gotta pay to the banks.

I think i paid back most of my loan from the 2nd back when my 2nd year started.

oh, i forgot, but there's a franchise FAQ at gamefaq.com it's got crazy amounts of detail.

                      Re: Shared Revenue???

So I wanted to talk about shared revenue a bit. It's basically the game's version of the luxury tax. Good teams give money to the teams that aren't so good after the 1st year. I'm pretty sure you have all the teams take money from their Funds at the end of the year, put it in a big pot, redistribute it, and the worst teams make out the best in the system. Seems to work, because all teams the 2nd year seemed to be above 40 million in Funds.

The thing of it is, the money goes to the wrong area. Funds doesn't need any help. You can always take a 100 million loan which will help with funds. What shared revenue should do is go into the player budget. the current budget system is all wrong. It rewards playoff teams by giving them increases, and struggling teams see their budgets cut. Too late for feedback, but I really think they need to change shared revenue to provide that money to player budgets. It'd really help out if teams like Pittsburgh or Kansas City could use shared revenue to improve player budgets.
