    API On = Realistic pitching

Since the game was released I have gone back and forth with API. I've tried both sides and after playing with API on for 20 games, I can say API provides a much more realstic game. With API off, I've noticed no rhyme or reason to AI pitch selection. I get sliders on 3-0 pitches to Julio Lugo, fastballs down the middle on 0-2 pitches to Manny. Its almost as if there is NO AI ... pitch selection appears to be complete random.

With API On the pitching makes sense. Santana mixes his Fastball and Changeup. I've seen four different pitches thrown in the same at bat!! The AI targets my weak spots (inside pitches) and the AI seems to ADAPT.

I agree. Nobody will pitch to Arod with API on. (yet I'm still trigger happy and swing at bad pitches. lol)

Also turned down CPU Pitch Control and balls seem to be more "off the plate"

    I like it!!

hmmmm-I had no luck with that feature last year,so this year it is off. Maybe I will try a game or two with API. the other thing that stops me from using API-is that I don't like to use pitching aids of any kind. Does anyone think of it as such?

        I like the API....
It calls for more pitches at the edges and even outside the zone....forcing you, in a way, to not groove pitches.

As the pitcher, I like having the catcher call the game for me. Its realistic... I certainly don't go with every pitch suggestion but I like the idea of having the catching calling pitches based on batter strengths/weaknesses.

I don't understand why anyone would disable this feature. After playing 20+ games with this enabled I simply can't go back to playing AI-less baseball.

I don't like it on, it seems like I dominate the CPU too much, so yeah I feel like I'm cheating.

I dont like it on either..For me, it seemed that the CPU was calling for too many fastballs and my catcher was calling for way too many as well.

Add me to the group that does not like it on. I prefer to choose my own pitches and setup hitters that way.

I also love it, at times I receive some bonehead advice from my catcher, but hey he's not perfect. It seems like some catchers are also better at calling games than others, or maybe this is just my imagination. I don't consider it cheating, its the same as reading a scouting report on a pitcher and seeing that he throws a lot of fastballs or something. It's also realistic too see a pitcher pitch around A-Rod, or throw something really good to a batter with Pujols on deck, etc.

So, with this on does it change how the CPU pitchers will pitch to YOU or does it make no difference? I find hitting to be a little too easy so whatever will make the CPU pitch smarter I want to keep on.

I just cant really tell if API makes any difference in how the CPU pitches the HUM.
