    Road to the Show 09

    Hi,

I was wondering how the "Road to the Show" will be for the next iteration of the game ? I mean, I really like the pitching experience, but when you are a batter...it's a very dull gameplay. You have no feeling of playing in defense or feilding, no anticipation because of the fast fowarding. Hitting and running in offense is fine, but you are not in the game in defense.

I would like to be feilding for a complete inning if it's my choice, be in the dugout when I am not hitting. That way, there is a real sens of anticipation when a ball is hit in my way, or when I got to bat. Otherwise it just feel like a sucession of mini games.

I think we should have the option to not field at all I found fielding a waste of time. Just give us the option to hit and run the bases.

I would love it if they gave up the option to play each and every out. Of course this isn't for everybody, so it should remain just an option.

One position I would love to play every out is catcher. I should be calling all the pitches, with the pitcher shaking me off and whatnot. I should also have the option to visit the mound to try and convince the CPU pitcher to throw what I want to throw, or to just go and calm him down if things aren't going well.

We could also have instances where the manager visits the mound and asks us how confident we feel in the pitcher to get 1 more big out, or if he should go to the 'pen.

RTTS as a catcher should be awesome. Instead it sucks (in '08, at least). You don't even get to call pitches and the only time you are involved is popups and bunts. Lame.

I agree man. I asked about this last year also. You're right it wouldn't be for everyone but I'd like it. PYS from Konami lets you do this but I couldn't get past the language barrier.

          Great ideas, Rob!

I would love to play as a catcher in RTTS, but you're right...it sucked in 08. It would also make playing as a pitcher more interesting too.

Yes it should be optionnal. I didn't see any preview of RTTS 09...unless I am mistaken. I am excited about all the new things they did with franchise and actual gameplay, but no word on RTTS.

I would like that option as well.. The option to play every defensive play while not knowing when the ball will get hit to you would be great and watching the game from the dugout would just add to the realism. Fast play is a option so this should be one as well.

I hope one of the upcoming blogs focuses on RTTS.
