After 2 years I finally did it... I spent $300 to play one game...
Today I found a ps2 backwards compatible ps3 for 300 on craigslist... between reading "the show" forums for two years and playing the other game on 360 I finally decided now that I have a little extra dough I'm gonna make the plunge. I'm sure that the ps3 has more to offer than just "The Show" but no other game could have made me switch... well I just wanna say howdy and that I will finally be able to be a real part of the community and not just a lurkerTags: None -

If you can afford it, you won't regret it!
Not just talking about the game (which is great) but it's a very good system, blue-ray player is quite capable and awesome to have, and the fact that you got a backwards compatible one is a big plus. I still play several PS2 games, so it was big for me at least.
anyway, enjoyComment

Im not sure about other titles for the PS3, no doubt there are some other good games....personally speaking, I got mine just for The Show, come to think of it, I have never played any game except The Show in it. Anyway...welcome and enjoy.

Re: After 2 years I finally did it... I spent $300 to play one game...
Congrats!!! At this point, I would suggest spending about $80 more and getting yourself a nice big 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA laptop hard drive and upgrade the HDD in your PS3. Instructions are in the PS3 manual and all over the web. This way you won't have to worry about space issues for a long, looooooooooooong time.
The PS3 is a phenomenal Blu-Ray player, and the ability to put your mp3s on there (with the album information and even an image of the album cover) is a nice benefit. In addition, you won't have to worry about playing games for too long and having your PS3 go belly up on you. Hardware failures aren't absent, but their occurrence is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar less frequent than for the 360.
Currently, my gaming collection consists of:
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Warhawk
Fight Night Round 3
GTA IV
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Solid
Tiger Woods 08
Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Star Wars: Force Unleashed
Guitar Hero World Tour
Guitar Hero III
Rockband
Rockband 2
On Tuesday, MLB 09: The Show will arrive.
Even though many of the games on the PS3 are also available for the 360, playing on the PS3 will give you the Peace of Mind, or maybe More Than A Feeling, of knowing that you won't have a brick in your entertainment center any time soon.(Okay, been playing too many Boston songs.

Hello OP,
You won't regret it. I did the same for the show '08. And since I can use it as my blu-ray player I don't regret it one bit.
Congrats.PSN: ToxicitiComment

Re: After 2 years I finally did it... I spent $300 to play one game...
I too took the plunge (again). I actually bought a PS3 for MLB07 back in 2007 but then I was really wanting to play Halo 3 as well. Ended up selling the PS3 (loved the Show but I really wanted Halo). However, now that I had the extra $ (tax refund as well) I went ahead and bought the PS3 again. SCEA has just done such a great job this year (as always) so I had to get it again, even if it is just for that game!Comment

I don't have the money right now, but I'm definitely gonna try to get a PS3 and this game in April, when the much anticipated price of the ps3 will drop 100 dollars.Comment
