Catcher's signals
I know this subject has come up in various threads, but has anyone worked out what all the catcher's signals mean yet and can perhaps provide a definitive list? At the moment, not having a clue what all the finger-jabbing means, I just go my own sweet way as pitcher. It would be nice to know what the catcher is trying to tell me, so that I can at least consider his opinion!Tags: None -
Re: Catcher's signals
one finger is the pitch assigned to the X button, and it goes clockwise from there
1 Finger = X
2 Fingers = []
3 Fingers = /\
4 Fingers = O
5 Fingers = R1
He always signals with his glove low in the zone though, even when he wants it high
EDIT:
Sorry, I forgot...
No Fingers (Fist) = Pitchout

Re: Catcher's signals
I think the OP is referring to the number of 'pats' the catcher performs.
I just use the pitch he calls for but put it in my own logical location, depending on batter and count.Gamertags

Re: Catcher's signals
I don't know about the rest but I found when the catcher gives 2 fingers it's your #2 pitch or the O button.one finger is the pitch assigned to the X button, and it goes clockwise from there
1 Finger = X
2 Fingers = []
3 Fingers = /\
4 Fingers = O
5 Fingers = R1
He always signals with his glove low in the zone though, even when he wants it high

Re: Catcher's signals
I don't know if you know this or not but if you press R2 you can see exactly what the catcher is calling (location and pitch type).I know this subject has come up in various threads, but has anyone worked out what all the catcher's signals mean yet and can perhaps provide a definitive list? At the moment, not having a clue what all the finger-jabbing means, I just go my own sweet way as pitcher. I'm not sure if you knew this already and just wanted to try pitching what the catcher suggests by reading his fingers but either way there you have it.
Why can't I just make a one sentence post?????Comment

Re: Catcher's signals
I agree with davewins. 1 Finger mean his number one pitch or X. 2 fingers means his #2 pitch or O button, and so on and so forth.
I think, but not really sure, but 2 hand pats means pitch the ball high, 3 hand pats means middle, 4 means mid-low, and 5 means low. He will also tap the corresponding leg to mean inside or outside.
The exact location you place the ball is up to you. If you want to know the exact location, then you have to hit the R2 button. It's fun putting the ball where you want it though. I mean if he calls middle away, it's fun choosing where you think it should be middle away and what the catcher is wanting.Comment

Re: Catcher's signals
The pitch call-out actually goes counter-clockwise...one finger is the pitch assigned to the X button, and it goes clockwise from there
1 Finger = X
2 Fingers = []
3 Fingers = /\
4 Fingers = O
5 Fingers = R1
He always signals with his glove low in the zone though, even when he wants it high

Re: Catcher's signals
1 finger - x
2 fingers - o
3 fingers - triangle
4 fingers - []
5 fingers -R1
6 fingers - Call Inigo Montoya
Pats inside thigh - pitch inside
Pats outside of thigh - pitch outside
No pats - middle
This part I'm not sure of, but test:
1 glove slap - high
2 glove slap - mid
3 glove slap - low
0 glove slap - no idea
Never seen more than 3 glove slapsComment

Re: Catcher's signals
So can you turn off the interface where the button for the pitch the catcher wants just lights up and the little picture of the catcher's mitt shows up where he wants you to throw it? Or is that something that goes away when you play a higher level? I would love to just read the signs the catcher gives.
