Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyondHas there been any mention of this feature? I never finish more than one season in a baseball game before the next year's game comes out, and it'd be even more extra incentive if we could import the current state of the franchise, with all of the saved stats, etc, into future games. I understand that attributes and such change throughout the years, but there has to be a smart workaround for this. It'd just be cool to track the progress of our players throughout the years, and break current records and such.Tags: None

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

That is a great idea. I hate having to start a new franchise every year all over again. I rarely get through a season in a year because I like to play every pitch. This would be great for me.

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

This is really something that needs to be in every sports game. I can usually burn through a bunch of seasons in NHL because there's half the amount of games, and on 5 minute periods, games take 15 minutes, and with the right settings, I can still get realistic stats. Without simming through the majority of games, there's no point in ever worrying about budget or potential or anything in this series, until this feature is added.Comment

I agree with you guys. This would be the best new feature in any sports game. There has got to be away to make this work.Comment

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

I know the code changes, but this is just about importing numbers, for the most part. I mean even if we could just hack the save file for the franchise and change some numbers around, that would be a start.Comment

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

 I doubt it's that simple.

If stats/etc were saved in a database type file that any year's game could read, then I don't see why this wouldn't be possible. But I have no idea how this information is stored and I know I was told that it's not possible with the way the game is currently coded.

And I know that hacking a save file certainly would not work. It's only a video game.Comment

That's a shame because it makes it hard to get the new game if you are deep into a franchise unless they come out with some impressive improvements.≡Comment

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

I would love to see this feature. I actually bought High Heat 2003 (played alot of HH2002 and kinda skipped HH2003) just so I could import my High Heat 2002 franchise into High Heat 2003 and then into High Heat 2004. I think every sports game should have this feature.Comment

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

the roster and player stats wouldn't be complicated to get

and its not like the SCEA doesn't know the code and has to make some fancy program to get the stats and roster info from the save

in MLB 10, they could have a "MLB 09 Save Converter" so you could convert your 09 save file to a 10 save file

but then you would have to buy it every yearComment

Re: Importing franchises to MLB 2010 and beyond

If MLB 2010 converted 09 saves to 10, and MLB 2011 only had the capability to convert 2010 to 2011, even if you opted to skip 2010, you'd still just have to rent mlb2010 to convert your 2009 saves into 2010 first.the roster and player stats wouldn't be complicated to get

As someone said, it was possible in a previous game, and in theory it doesn't seem that hard (although, as a computer science major, I know that doesn't always mean anything). But even just from 2008 to 2009, the fundamentals of the game, and most of the franchise options are so similar that it certainly seems like a conversion would have been within the realm of possibility.Comment
