The number 1 suspect is my very low durability, but I thought it just handles the chance of injury. Does durability however affect how quickly you lose energy?

I hate the fact that I am one of the best hitters in the league and I play pinch hit quite a bit.

No....it actually effects your "stamina" level....
Play too many games with low stamina because of low durability, and your chances of injury go up.
I'm "begging"
...SCEA to add a separate injury slider this year.
Durability..1-162....you know how that would work!
Injury...1-99.....
One can still be tied to the other...but at least it gives us more control

Yeah, my RTTS guy has about a 45 durability, and even when I am playing you can tell I am always tired. When I steal a base, the cut scene shows me with my hands on my knees gasping for air. I have been dumping points into that, but it is going slowly, especially since all my challenges want me to become a better fielder.Comment

Exactly
A rule of thumb I go by (and this ain't got squat to do with that 'three-year' whatever)....
For position players, I divide their games played in total into 162. That then becomes where I set their durability at. You'd be surprised how many players in the game, out of the box, have durability ratings wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lower than should be.
For starters, I divide their total number of starts by 35 (which is the max number of regular season starts). That becoms the pitcher's durability.
For relievers (including closers), their total number of appearances becomes their durability--which is correct when you think about it. Guys who appear in 85 games and have a durabilty of 85..who's gonna have a problem with it? Guys who were up with the big club all year, and only appeared in 38 games, should have the same number for durability....makes a ton of sense.
For any player whose calulations above becomes less than 20. I make sure the minimum durability for any player is 25
For those pitchers that may not have played at all, or in a very limited way in the minors and hardly played in the majors,
SCEA must have listened. Despite a large number that are wrong, there are many that are right...good to know my talking about this often for the last three years apparently did not fall upon deaf ears....
