Is this suppose to happen in September?

My AAA team didnt make the playoffs, and it automatically called up like 8 guys to mlb, and it doesnt effect my MLB roster limit?

Yes, that's supposed to happen, the extra minor league players are September call ups, a new feature in 09 The Show.

The 25 man roster expands to the 40 man roster on 9/1. Note that a player must be on the 25 man roster as of 8/31 in order to be eligible for the playoffs (do not know if MLB 09 reflects this rule).

In real life? No. The team decides who they want to call up and can after Sept. 1. Generally teams like to give "cups of coffee" to top prospects and some minor league vets. Like the last poster said, the players need to be added to the 40-man roster by Aug. 31.

Each Major League Baseball team maintains both a 25-man roster and a 40-man roster of players. Players on the 25-man roster are eligible to play in official major league games throughout the season. The 40-man roster includes the players on the 25-man roster plus as many as 15 players who are either on the team's 15-day disabled list (see below) or who are in the team's minor league system. From September 1 through the end of the regular season, any player on the 40-man roster (also referred to as the "expanded roster") is eligible to play in an official regular season game. Many young players make their Major League debuts in this way, as "September call-ups". Players must be on a team's 25-man roster as of August 31 to be eligible for post-season play. The only exception is that a player on the 60-day disabled list may be replaced by another player from the team's 40-man roster (as of August 31) who plays the same position.
          40-man Roster

In MLB 09 The Show, they are called up automatically, which can be unfortunate since it starts some of the player service clocks.

Does it just call them up based on overall ratings? Im close to september in my franchise and wanna know how The Show picks who is called up.

Everyone on the 40 man roster is called up, regardless of their ratings..
