HELP !!! This 1st to 3rd over aggressive baserunning is killing me !!!!!!!

I'm getting so frustrated with almost every base runner always attempting to go 1st to 3rd on a single !!!!!!!

98% of the time there easily thrown out

I actually had a base runner on 1st "ATTEMPT" to go to 3rd on a run & hit hard single to LEFT FIELD......LEFT FIELD

I was in complete shock from the stupidity of that base runner

The amount of assists that I have in my season is unrealistic

Is there ANY slider or individual player attribute edit that will stop base runners from always attempting to go 1st to 3rd and running you out of innings using AUTO base running ??

I don't want to stop using auto base running because I like the random steal attempts that are made but I'm getting really aggravated

do you have this set on Classic baserunning?

I think that it is based on ratings when you use auto baserunning. I use classic baserunning and don't use auto and I havent had this issue. Now the CPU is a different story. They seem to like to take chance and are sometimes overly aggressive. I think to avoid that for yourself you might need to adjust some ratings or just get off of auto.

You'll need to lower the Baserunning Aggressiveness attribute for each player that is guilty of doing it...

I've been slowly inching the ratings down for guys that do that. I had one guy that I called up and his rating was nearly at the top. This guy would just keep running until he was out...

I'm sure there was a global slider for it last year, but this year it's an individual attribute.

If ASSISTED just allowed auto steal attempts I would use that

I'm just going to lower every players base running aggressiveness attribute and see if that helps

Any suggestion on what I should lower it too and does anyone know if this will effect steal attempts ??

Yea - Prince Fielder seems to think he is a speed demon - stealing on his own and constantly getting thrown out at 3rd

I've had this problem some but it hasn't gotten to the point where I feel it's unrealistic. There will be times when guys try to take the extra base and other times when they don't. If it happened every time I would be more annoyed with it.

I use auto baserunning because I simply can't do it manually, it's just to hard for me. So I have to stick with auto. It also allows me to concentrate more on my hitting.

The only time I have had a guy try to go from 1st to 3rd on a single to LF was on a hit and run and he got in there safely. Usually they'll stop at 2nd in those situations where they are more aggressive on singles to CF and RF.

I don't think I want to touch the baserunners attributes just yet, especially if that affects their SB attempts.

what kind of problems are you guys having with manual baserunning controls? truth is at first i didnt really understand it, but then i forced myself to figure it out. if you have a second controller, start a 2p game and just get hits and dont control the fielders on the other controller, this will give you time to figure out the running controls, so you feel less pressure when you are in a real game.

I switched to auto baserunning after realizing that I didn't know how to advance one runner without advancing them all, and the explanation given in the game didn't make sense. I was tired of accidentally advancing more runners than I intended and getting outs I shouldn't have.

In my first at-bat with auto baserunning, though, a runner on first attempted a steal and was out by a mile. No thanks.

I still don't have the baserunning controls quite figured out, but there aren't many situations where it matters much.

OK, well I am going to try and explain it. In order to select a runner, you flick the left stick to the base he last touched. Then you press the face button corresponding to the base you want him to run to. So flicking up would select a runner who last touched second. Here is a situation:

Runner on second. Base hit, I want him to score, but I don't want the batter to take second. I flick the left stick up to select the player running from second, and press X for home. Then I can just watch the play. However, I an aware. I flick the stick down immediately after giving orders to the runner who should be scorring. This selects the batter. As soon as I can see that the outfielder is throwing home instead of to the pitcher, I can press Triangle to take second on the throw home. (Only do this if you are sure he is going home.) Then you have another runner in scorring position.

Make sense?

That does make sense but it's to much to think about after the ball is hit. I'd rather just focus on hitting and watch the play unfold.

it can be overwhelming at first, because you are trying to pay attention to other things going on and be to slow at controlling the runners. it just takes practice, if you have a 2nd controller, practice it in exhibition game. have one controller pitch down the middle for easy hits and use the 2nd controller to control the runners.

its alot easier then you think, just have to be conscience of it immediatly after you hit.

i would recommend that you switch to the new baserunning controls and just attempt steals on your own.. its really not hard to control the runners once you get it down. Took me like 1 whole game. it would piss me off to no end if the CPU were to get thrown out trying to steal or making a stupid baserunning decision like trying to take 3rd on a LF single. As soon as you see where the ball is hit you gotta know where your guys need to be almost immediately. ex. runner on 2nd and you hit a nice (slow but enough to get past infielders) single up the middle. flick up the left stick and hit X. then flick the left stick down (or Right if batter is very near 1st base) and then control if you want to send him to 2nd or stay at first. Simply press the corresponding button.
