What do you mean by 'not work again'?

You have to talk to your manager in order to change. That is working as intended.

You can't change your position on your own if thats what your asking just like you can't decide to make it to the majors. Everything is up to your manager.

The team has got to want you to change to that position. If you want to go from corner outfield to 1b and there are 3 1st basemen on the major league roster, not a chance it is going to happen.

Even in real life how often does a player decide one day he wants to switch positions and does?

Well, they still need to make the manager say yes more, i asked him every month for 5 years and he said no every time. I was a center fielder for the Rangers, so Josh Hamilton was on the bench, they had a sucky player for short stop, i wanted to change to short stop, so me as a good player would be the short stop and Josh Hamilton could be the center fielder again, makes since. I want them to make it where you can ask for a new position in the post season, so another team that needs that position could sign me or trade for me, or my current team could put me as that position, and let me practice it in spring training, then become that new position for the start of the season. If im better than the other competition going for that position, thats how it works in real life.
