Ready to Pull the Trigger on PS3

OK... Finally. I am not a XB360 fanboy, by any means. Its just the next gen console I have had. It was the first one released- I got it then and have had it since. So, I have had to deal with the baseball shortcomings of 2K and XB360 since the demise of MVP. Not this year. I am going to get a PS3! I buy/play two- maybe three different titles per year. NCAA Football, Madden, a hoops title (either Live or NBA2K, depending upon which year was best). Baseball has been so horrible on the XB360 the past two or three years it just does not even bear any further mention. So I am salivating looking at the videos and screens of MLB10. I brings me back to my days of being a PS2 owner and playing MLB until my fingers nearly bled.
    Can't wait!

Now, all this said, I don't want or need two consoles and I am going to unload the XB360 either on eBay, CList or the simplest means and least amount, Gamestop trade. So this begs me to ask this question: Does anyone know the current trade value of XB360 at GS? I have a bunch of stuff and that will fetch a few bucks, but big $ value is in the console itself. I have the original 20 GB w/out HDMI? If anyone knows the recent value, I would love your input. If not, no biggie, they open here in 1.5 hours and will give a call.

Thanks y'all and can't wait to get a PS3 and the release day for MLB10!

First off welcome to the show!

I think your question is better off in the console forum as you will get a better response from fellow 360 owners on what its current value is.

True, true... I guess that does make more sense to put in the console forum. I guess I was just hyped about The Show! : )

        Thanks!

the launch console do not have much value at all. i recommend keeping it. if anyone knows anything about that particular model, they will stay away from it.

I don't know the current trade value for the 360, but Gamestop does have a couple deals in place for hardware trade in:

Well done, you will not be disappointed! I did the same thing a couple of years back, and the show alone has made the PS3 worth the purchase. I cannot emphasize just how much they listen to their consumers/fans when moving forward into a development cycle. Plus, I haven't had to deal with the "red ring of death"

The 20GB 360 is going for $100-$150 on NYC's Craigslist ... but that seems really high, considering the reliability problems and a brand-new 120GB is $300.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a used 360, period, but I'm sure you'll find a taker who will pay more than Gamestop.

                  Here dude:

                  http://www.gamestop.com/gs/specialty/tradeins/

You get an extra hardware bonus for trading in a system towards another system, and they also have game trade-in bonus for trading in multiple titles.

Plus, if you have an Edge card, you'll get an extra 10% trade-in as well.

I gave my 360 a proper burial when it caught the red rings of death virus for the final time. It was a sad time, however the trade in value @ GameStop was ridiculously awesome, I received over $300 in-store credit for my accessories and remaining games!! Since the games I owned can be re-aquired for the PS3, it was the seal of the deal for me. MLB 10 the Show.....here I await ye.

Re: Ready to Pull the Trigger on PS3

I finally did it! I traded in my 360(4th) at gamestop. I had tried to sell on craigslist. I got a few guys that were interested but no takers.
I got $110 for the system(the +$30 deal) $10 for HDD, 5+ ea. for the headset and remote. Then I traded a few older games and got a total of $181. I was selling the whole package on CL for $180-200. I still have a few good 360 games(MW2, Batman, NHL 10, Mass Effect) that I'll try to trade for PS3 games.

I got tired of the replacements and being disappointed in the exclusives( I feel like the only guy in the world that didn't like Gears of War)
Halo has not improved and we all know about the baseball game.
                      I pre-ordered MLB 10 at BB. I can't wait.

4th one ? How long did it take to go through 4 of 'em ?

Congratulations on your decision. You won't regret it. I bought a PS3 half a year ago and I use it for more than playing games. It's a great media player too.

i recently bought a PS3. I Had sold my hard drive(60 GB) and all my games (to have more money for ps3 games) . But i kept the system itself. When i get bored or miss the 360 ill just rebuy the hard drive and the games my friends got. Or most likely id probably will just ask for it for my b-day ....... If your wondering I currently have NBA2k10, Call of duty Modern Warfare 2, Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010, and Socom Confrontation (Big Mistake) Ive had this system for about 8 days now and loving it.

First of all Brutus, I'm glad for you that your original xbox is still alive. Mine got the red rings after less than 100 hours of gameplay.

I don't care what anyone says, the PS3 is so much better of a system. My old xbox used to make so much noise with the fans, and then it would get so hot. My PS3 is relatively quiet in comparison and I can run it for hours, put my hand on it, and it's almost cool to the touch.

How Microsoft could get away with marketing such a terrible and unreliable product just blows my mind. I mean, sure, they seem to have fixed it. Still, how messed up is that?
