Re: The real show

I was a four year letterman in high school at Wheeling Park HS in West Virginia. Played freshman ball as a walk-on at West Virginia Tech but never made anything of it and walked away my sophmore year. I did obtain my degree though and decided to put academics first.

My father was a star pitcher for his Wheeling High team in the mid-70's and threw a one hitter in the state championship game in Charleston, WV his senior year. He said he never seriously pursued a career in baseball after H.S. but my grandfather told me otherwise. He's a proud coalminer.

Baseball has always been a great pastime in my family. To this day I still take my family to baseball games, be it high school games in the valley or a trip to PNC Park to watch the buccos. My two boys are 4 and 2 and already into sports...lol. Everything from watching sportscenter to live games.

Pretty excited about the depth of possibilities "The Show" is bringing this year.

Yep. I was in the Show. I was in the Show for 21 days, once. It was the greatest 21 days of my life. You know, you never touch your luggage in the show--somebody else handles your bags. It's great. The ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, the women all have long legs and brains--it's a smorgasbord.

The women are really hot, eh?

Yeah--and so are the pitchers. They throw ungodly breaking stuff in the Show--exploding sliders. You could be one of those guys--Nuke could be one of those guys, but you don't give a f***, Meat.

Re: The real show

I got invited to a Royals showcase this summer, but most of the guys there were D1 players, and I was becoming a junior, so it was more for the experience of being there.

I got to know a couple local college scouts and a couple Royals scout though. Very cool.
