RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
Does anyone know if they changed the ask to be traded option from last year as it was a 95% chance that you get benched?

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
I'd also like to know this. I'm in the UK and have to wait for my copy to arrive so I won't find out for myself for a while.
Last year I got promoted to the Indians from their AAA side, I was naturally happy at first and after a couple of seasons won the World Series. I had good enough figures for some team to want to trade for me but trade offers never came in, obviously I started the game with the ultimate goal or hope to be traded to the Red Sox.
It never happened and despite constantly trying to antagonise for a trade all I ever got was a ticking off from the coach or a stay on the bench. This really drove morale down and after a while I gave up and stopped playing the game.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
Isn't that kind of realistic? Unless its a superstar demanding a trade I would think anybody antagonizing the coach would get benched rather than immediately traded.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
I have only played about about 15-20 RTTS games but it does give you an option to ASK for a position change. No guarantee that you will get it. You can also ask to be moved up in the batting lineup. If your coach doesn't agree you either get moved down or benched for a few games.
So far those are the only two options I have so I don't know yet if you can request a trade.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
last year i got traded when i asked from the astros (thank god) to the brewers. astros kept platooning me with chris snyder as the #4 hitter. it was mind boggling, they wouldnt let me start, so i asked for a trade right before the allstar break and a week later they sent me packing.
bad news about that trade was that even though we made the playoffs, fielder, braun, and hart all left, so i was there all alone for 2 more season till i could become a free agent.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
I'm talking about four seasons in to RTTS mode with the best part of two of those seasons asking for a trade and antagonising for a trade. So no I don't think it's realistic. Also on that point even if it might be a 'realistic' experience being a virtual prisoner in a video game does not make for a fun experience at all. I was too far in to quit and start again so that was pretty much it for me.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
Yeah...if you're completely miserable playing for any team but the one you want to play for, then why would you even bother entering the draft? Additionally, if you're that closed minded on how you allow yourself to enjoy the game, why even play?Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
Maybe if you actually read the post properly you wouldn't come out with a response as far off the mark as this. Here it is again, maybe you could actually read it properly this time?
Personally the issue isn't that I would be 'completely miserable' playing for any team but the one I want to play for, the issue is that after four seasons I was totally bored and wanted a change, hopefully to the team I wanted to play for but not restricted to. Why bother entering the draft? To play and enjoy the game and see where my career took me.
I went through a few AAA teams and got traded to the Indians AAA side before getting promoted to the Indians roster. I was happy even a few hundred games in but I got bored and wanted a change. Your last point on being close minded is bizarre and not to mention irrelevant, I personally enjoyed the game for what it is but got tired of being in the same organisation and wanted to move on. That's all. No matter what I did I couldn't get traded and nobody would trade for me despite being almost constantly on the trading block and at the same time frequently having a great reputation, being on the 'Who's Hot' screen, being on the league leaders board for various categories, having won gold gloves etc etc etc. Very strange that I would literally be stuck in limbo like that, and very unsatisfying.
Anyway, I wanted to know if I could in this years game, not wether it upset you or not that I wanted to be able to antagonise for a trade successfully.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
In 09, I was drafted by the Marlins, and made it to the majors with them, which was fine by me. Then I was traded to the O's, which was also fine, except they let every decent player they had go, and I had to endure multiple seasons of losing 100+ games. That got old fast, and I never finished that career because I couldn't get traded. It's not fun to be on a crappy team, and know it will take 3 or 4 more seasons to be able to switch teams. I don't think every trade request should be granted, but it would be nice to be able to move around a bit more the first 6 seasons.Comment

Re: RTTS: Ask for trade/Position change?
I played/simmed through about 2 years of RTTS yesterday, and tried to get my position changed to catcher to test that mode out. I asked about 5 times and was denied each time (i.e. "You are too valuable to our club at first base").
I asked to be traded in the second year so I could try to make a MLB club easier/quicker, and while I was denied at first, I was traded two games later. I'm not sure if my request influenced it or not.Comment
