    09 vs. 10

I'm planning on getting one of The Show games, and I'm stuck between 09 and 10. I've played the demos for both a good deal, and I'm better actually playing in 09, but I wanted to ask a few questions about how the full games compare to one another before I get one of them.

    Difficulty
It may just be that I've played 09 more than 10, but I cannot hit for crap in 10, even with all the sliders maxed out I average 2-3 hits per demo (4 innings) and maybe a run if I'm lucky. Is it just because I haven't played 10 as much, or is batting in 10 a good deal more difficult than in 09?

    Road to the Show
This is one of the main reasons I want to get The Show, to play RttS. How much difference is there between RttS in 09 and 10? I've heard that there are some problems with pitchers (slow fastball velocities), but some workarounds have been found. Which game is it easier to improve your player in?

    Rosters
I know that Knight is working on his OS Full Minors roster for 10, but how good/accurate is the best roster for 09? How up-to-date is it (not terribly important as I can manually make some trades/edits if need be)? Does Knight have a Full Minors roster for 09?

    Animations
I've seen a ton of great animations in both games, so it's not that big of a deal, but is there a significant difference between 09 and 10 in terms of animations? Either in improved animations or in overall smoothness?

Thanks in advance for any help/info.

Anythings guys? I'm mainly concerned about RttS. Are there any serious problems with RttS in either The Show 09 or 10? Is RttS significantly different between 09 and 10?

      Re: 09 vs. 10

I would recommend 10. I played the full version of 09 several times at a friends and didn't even think about buying it. I decided to get it this year knowing it would still be better than nothing. I was very surprised to find that I love it. The only other thing that has been in my ps3 is the Ironman Blu-ray

I've got every The Show (and before) and 10 is the choice, period. Yes there are a few glitches/bugs BUT they will be fixed soom. It really is no choice to be made, IMO
10 all the way especially if RTTS is a min mode of yours.

              Re: 09 vs. 10

10 has better gameplay and graphics, but there are a few bugs right now. I'm sure they will be worked out and when they are, along with Knights roster, 10 will be a no brainer. There are also little improvements to Rtts in 10 over 09.

Check your settings on the hitting difficulty. I played on all-star in 09 and then tried all-star on 10 and had trouble hitting. I moved the hitting difficulty to veteran, but left the pitching difficulty at all-star and tweaked some sliders and now I'm having great games.

                Re: 09 vs. 10

If you like playing RttS, go with '10. A lot of the frustrations and issues I had with RttS in '08 and '09 seem to have been addressed. Yes, there are still some annoyances, but they're nothing that makes you want to break your controller in half. In '10, if you want, you can see each and every pitch of every game whether you are involved in the play or not. I think this is a HUGE improvement because it allows you to be more involved in the game and once you are taken out of the game (if you are a starting pitcher or reliever) you can see what happens after you are gone. In addition, you are able to customize how much of the game you actually see which is completely fantastic. Being a catcher is also a viable option now for a RttS player.

In addition, you get more training sessions now and aren't just limited to batting practice if you are a hitter. As a pitcher, you get bullpen sessions and as a fielder you get fielding practice. The Futures Game has also been implemented, so if you are a high ranking prospect, you can get selected to play in the Futures Game during the MLB All-Star break.

The in-game goals have also been improved upon, granted they still aren't perfect, but cases in the past where your goal was "drive the runner in" with a guy on second have been improved. If there are less than two outs and you don't drive him in but you do move him over, you get points for that and not a "failed" penalty.

Overall, I think RttS got a lot of great attention and it is far better in '10 than it was in '09 and '08.

I agree with everything Matt said,I am using the same difficulty settings.

Someone has offered me $25 for 09, thinking of selling mine and picking up 10. I don't know if I play the game enough to justify paying 30 more dollars though for what would be minor upgrades for the most part :|

I would stick with 09. 10 is exactly like 09 with better lighting. After playing 10 for a while I see little difference between the 2 games. And any issues that plagued 09 are still in 10

Not hardly the same game, I'm glad these are only opinions not facts. I think you guys are disrespecting SCEA when you say it's the same game as last year. Yeah it's still baseball but it's not even close to the same game. It's not a roster update, it's way more then that. I would not pick up 09, it's the year 2010 and you need the game to match. Sure they're are bugs but thats with any game and they will soon be fixed. Don't listen to the people who say get 09 because obviously they haven't taken they're medication. The show 10 is the only way to go man....

                            Re: 09 vs. 10

If you are mainly playing RTTS I would choose 09. It is basically the same exact RTTS from 09 to 10. Yes you do have the option to watch the game and play defense on every play. If you want that then that is obviously a plus for you. I still play RTTS classic, which is how it was in 09. You bat, then fast-forward to your next appearance that way the game goes by faster.

Also they added more color choices and some more equipment for your player to choose from, but they didn't address the number 1 issue with RTTS...logic. That is the biggest problem with RTTS and from what I've seen their isn't enough improvement in the logic department of RTTS to warrant buying a new game.

Also RTTS is plagued with more bugs then 09 was. In 09 RTTS had the infamous freezing in September glitch. There was a way around this, but it still sucked. In 10 RTTS is freezing throughout the year and it seems random. I've read people have had their RTTS freeze to where they can't simulate ahead in May, June, July, and when the season is over.

If your interested in being a catcher then I would definitely recommend 10 to you. They added a lot more to the catcher position. Other then that any other position is the same as it was in 09.

Also if you want to be a pitcher there is a bug that affects your pitch speeds if you choose any kind of changeup and a curveball I believe. What that means is you can put a ton of training points into your veloicty training and still only throw an 89 MPH fastball while other AA guys are throwing 95 MPH. There is a workaround for this so if your interested in being a pitcher I highly suggest reading that thread.

Overall as a primarily RTTS player I would choose 09. 10 is a good game, but not enough to spend $60 on IMO. It seems like 10 has more bugs then 09 did. There have been small additions to RTTS that are cool, but like I mentioned the number 1 issue with RTTS has not been addressed, logic. And freezing that can ruin your RTTS is much worse in 10.

Overall you can't go wrong with 09 or 10. Both are good games. At this point though I would go with 09. Maybe in a month or 2 I will change my mind, once 1 or 2 patches are released and the problems are fixed.

Explain what's different besides graphics. From what I've seen, AI still misuses it's bullpen, roster logic is still a mess, outfielders still stroll to the ball, and the list goes on. And it is not being disrespectful to devs to give constructive criticism. I'm sorry, but I have loved this franchise, but very little progress was made this year. And I'm not concerned about the bugs, b/c I know we'll get a patch. I'm concerned about the bad programming that still remained in regards to the above issues
