I currently play on Hall of Fame for both pitching and batting. I am starting to get to the point where i accumulate too many hits for my liking in games. I would like to have some games where i can only muster 2 hits against a top pitcher. For anyone who has moved up to legend, how has your experience been over a period of 10 or more games?

Difficulty Level
What do you play on and what are your thoughts on it?

Re: Difficulty Level
I play on Rookie level for hitting as I am not dextrous enough to control the left stick, pick up where the pitch is and what it is, and then swing properly. Just using Rookie mode I'm able to just worry about the timing which works fine for me. For pitching, I use All-Star level as I like how it makes you mix up your pitches and actually "pitch" a ball game.Comment

How does classic differ? I have found HoF pitching on default to be perfect.Comment

Re: Difficulty Level
Um, total shot to my pride, but after 20 games or so on All Star I'm moving to Veteran, at least for hitting. I like to play the game clean, with no aids or cues, and I can't for the life of me keep from striking out 10 times a game.
Pitching I can get a decent variety on All Star.Comment

ha. yeah guess pitch is really ghey, i don't use it either. i turn the strike zone off as well. all about the realism.Um, total shot to my pride, but after 20 games or so on All Star I'm moving to Veteran, at least for hitting. Legend, Legend, Wide, Outfield, GP-off, PCI-off, SZ-off
I guarantee you could all hack it on Legend after a bit if you wanted to. I like realism, and realistically, baseball is not easy.
To each his own, though. I can totally understand wanting to spend your gametime mashing & striking out the side.

Re: Difficulty Level
I just switched to classic pitching because I like the idea of having the pitcher attributes mean something, and not have to keep staring at that meter all game long.
But my god is it hard. I cannot for the life me figure it out. I like the fact that the pitch counts are more realistic, but my god I cannot paint the corner to save my life. It is either ball ,or meatball, and thus hammered.
I just stink at pitching I guess...I will see you at THE SHOW!!Comment

Re: Difficulty Level
I switched to classic as well and was getting hammered. Now i am doing well. Once you start your windup, release LS is one thing i found. I generally hold X until the leg kick is near the top. Just seems the tapping the X to pitch wasn't working well.I just switched to classic pitching because I like the idea of having the pitcher attributes mean something, and not have to keep staring at that meter all game long.

Re: Difficulty Level
I actually think mlb 10 is easier than mlb 09. Or at least the hitting is for sure.
Last year (09) I played on hall of fame and this year i'm at legend/legend.
With the improved fielding and throwing meter I think overall the game is easier.
Also the improved hit variety is a huge key. Last year there were hardly any doubles/triples.
This year it's a lot better.
Also it's easier to get hits with the really bad power hitters (Nick Punto)
I understand Punto is an atrocious power hitter but, last year it was a little extreme. It was a borderline miracle to hit it 150+ feet in the air/out of the infield with Nick Punto and Emilio Bonifacio because there was no hit variety.
In mlb 10 the show this has been fixed, and it is much easier (although not too easy) to get xbh/get hits with awful power hitters like Punto and Bons.Last edited by mcgee055; 03-14-2010, 02:33 PM.Comment

Re: Difficulty Level
Allstar/Allstar with only tweak being CPU Strike Frequency down two notches to 3. Im currently 4-2 but out of those 4 wins 3 were by a margin low enough to warrant a save opportunity so Im not dominating anyone.Comment

Re: Difficulty Level
Yeah I play on default Allstar/Allstar, but the first game I played against Beckett he completely dominated me and threw maybe 10 balls all game...so I'm gonna go in and bring down the CPU strike frequency a bit.Go Yankees
Go Rangers
Go Giants

Re: Difficulty Level
I think no feed back for guess pitch is more realistic. I mean if a batter is guessing an inside fastball and gets it, I betting he is going to crush it.Comment
