look, baseball is boring to most people. most kids can't sit still for more than 10 minutes so I can understand how baseball is becoming less and less popular.

Not to make this about race/economics/social influence, but i guess i have to. I'm a white kid from boston. I've had a great team to watch and great players to follow. I was lucky enough to be from a family that could afford to go to games to get a real sense of how great baseball is. When I was younger, i'd see players on the field that I could relate too. Nomar, Clemens, Trot Nixon. Thats just not the case for a lot of people

Now that professor Mulloy has finished his lecture I'll state that the point of my thesis was this: This game is awesome the end.
I like it^^^^. Nice post. Take me for example, if it wasn't for tecmo bowl, bases loaded, RBI baseball, I wouldn't give a crap about sports. When I was young there was no way I would be sitting down for hours watching sports on tv. Now if you give me a controller and say play I would be all over it. Even now I do not watch much TV but let me be interactive and I am all over it. I would have no idea who Joe Montana, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson if it wasnt for video games.

I wrote a lot more but got off my soap box and deleted a ton. I actually did a huge paper on it in college about how certain kids are gravitating to certain sports and some of the influences. It's a really interesting topic. It's good to see that the mainstream is picking up on that trend. I know Torii Hunter brought it up a few weeks ago.

I think for me, games like FIFA and NHL don't interest me because I don't have a pro team represented in those leagues.

But with baseball, football and even NBA, I watch because I can root for "my" team. And I play the games because I'm familiar with the players and the organizations.

Re: Does anybody else HATE baseball?

God, I love baseball and always have since my dad took me to my first Brewers game at old Milwaukee County Stadium when I was 5 years old.

I used to have a Brewers shirt when I was young and my dad stenciled my last name on the back and I would play catch in the yard pretending I played for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Seriously, I love nothing more than being at the ballpark on a beautiful summer afternoon or evening. Having a few brews, grilling out in the parking lot 3 hours before the game, but it all leads up to the best part, the game itself.

The sights of the green grass and brown dirt infield and nice neat chalk lines before the game starts.

The sounds of the vendors and crowd and ball hitting the bat and catchers mitt.

The smells of the beer and brats and popcorn.

Damn, I love baseball....

I'm just like you, I follow baseball, but for me watching an actual baseball game is like watching paint dry, although I love this game (my second baseball game ever, my first was MLB 2K5)
