Re: Hitting tips

I'm having the problem where I'm getting good contact, recognizing the pitch well, getting Perfect timing, and hitting the ball nowhere.
All day today I've had the problem where I'd get a hanging curve up in the zone, wait on it, and ground out to shortstop. Next at bat I'd check the swing analysis thinking that I was early...
Contact: Solid
Timing: Perfect

I've had to resort to playing on rookie with 1/6 guess pitch. And all I ever get are weak grounders up the middle for singles, or one lucky solo shot.
It's very frustrating when no matter how much I max out my sliders, Solid contact + Perfect timing = Out.

Re: Hitting tips

I have some questions about the link that someone posted earlier.

Quote:
1) Look somewhere behind the pitcher at a object which will not move the entire game!!! everything you think of is going to be directed and energy from this spot!!! "EXAMPLE" a spot of green ivey at oriole park, a static billboard, the ny mets homerun apple , something you can find every time ON THE 0-0 COUNT

2) Look at this spot while the pitcher has NOT started his motion!!

3) When he starts to windup or from the stretch move your eyes to the shoulder of his throwing arm and tell yourself DON'T track the baseball into the glove if your eyes follow the ball to the plate on a take a pitcher can throw you off by changing speeds and your tracking system has not worked , what I usually do is count 1-2 on the first pitch if your eyes move before the count of 2 your hitting from the plate and not the release point

- Do this when learning for the entire lineup first time through the order on every other batter , what you are going to find out is your eyes will adjust to the pinpoint location of the release point and you will know in 0.1- 0.2 what pitch was just thrown when it comes out youll also notice on breaking pitches that you lose for a quick second the ball this is normal and whats supposed to happen!! If you see a breaking pitch direct good chance its going to fall out of the zone.
What the heck is this guy talking about for 2 and 3? Why pick a static part in the background every pitch, but then move your eyes to the pitchers shoulder? Are we just supposed to look at his shoulder and kind of like 'feel' the ball instead of track it? What is the point of picking a spot?

I really suck. I'll try that game mode and see if that fixes anything. I was good, but I started playing HRD all the time and it's like it did something to my swing. I don't pick the ball up like I use too. I play on All star.

I tried this last night and this morning. Couldn't really figure it out either. However, I know a LOT of people talk about the importance of picking up the release point so you can actually read pitches instead of just reacting. For the life of me I've never been able to figure it out.

Still sucking after all these years .

Re: Hitting tips

i mean i think i get what hes saying, and you probably do it without noticing. Basically I think hes just saying dont just track the ball with your eyes the entire time or else you're always gonna swing. I also dont think that really applies to real baseball because you definitely want to 'keep your eye on the ball'. but what he says about picking a zone or a pitch to look for is definitely true.

If you kinda like look 'through' the pitcher you can pick up location of the ball better. I dont think theres any miracle method where the game slows down like what hes saying though, i think thats a little hyperbolic.

If you were a fan of MVP baseball, this camera angle is the closest to duplicating the MVP "feel" and pitch vision when hitting.
Does this work for online games/league games?

It took sometime to learn to hit from the release point but it's worth it....

This link doesn't work. Does anyone have a working link to this guide?
