Stealing Bases in RTTS
I'm at a loss. I have now maxed out speed and BR ability, BR aggression is at 87 and I still get thrown out 8 or 9 times out of ten. Not that it matters anyway because the manager revokes my green light after 3 times of getting thrown out. I dont get it. I break on the pitchers first movement and Im still easily out most of the time. I get a one step (aggressive?) lead as well. Is anyone else out there able to steal bases consistently in RTTS?Tags: None -

Slide outside of where the throw is coming from. I felt like a ****** once I realized I was thrown out every time because I neglected the slide control. It's not a guaranteed steal, but if you get a decent jump and your speed is high you will steal a lot more bases this way.I'm at a loss. Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
I dont think this will help as the throw usually beats me by a decent margin, but I can try it. Although, I dont seem to have sliding control like I used to in games past. Pressing the left or right stick up for a headfirst slide does nothing. I haven't been able to control my slides at all in MLB 10. Does New baserunning have to be on? I am using Classic control.Comment

Yea, has to be new controls...which sucks because dealing with the left stick and the camera angle is a pain in the ***. If you are stealing 2nd, hold the right stick up and to the right and it will slide way outside the bag and the runner will just stick his hand in there.I dont think this will help as the throw usually beats me by a decent margin, but I can try it. Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
i have this same problem, coach tells me to steal, i get thrown out and i get pissed off, and with the slide control in RTTS it doesnt matter which way i push either stick they slide feet first 90% of the time straight into the tag and then slide head first when its a bad throw and i would be safe no matter what, which brings me to my next point. CATCHERS ONLY THROW OUT 30-40% of base stealers MAX if they are elite elite catchers, having posoda throw runners out from his knees on a pitch that bounces shouldnt happen even if big papi is stealing. THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND.Comment

Hold it up and right the entire time, don't try and time it right before the slide animation starts...otherwise it just kinda does what it wants.i have this same problem, coach tells me to steal, i get thrown out and i get pissed off, and with the slide control in RTTS it doesnt matter which way i push either stick they slide feet first 90% of the time straight into the tag and then slide head first when its a bad throw and i would be safe no matter what, which brings me to my next point. Not sure if this will help at all but the stolen base ability slider is the wrong way round. Lower it to make stealing easier.

Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
Just got thrown out 4 more times in a row. I think that makes 12 straight caught stealing with my speed and BR ability maxed out. This is ludicrous. I even guessed right once and took off before the pitcher even started his slide step, and I still got thrown out. It's like my player is running in quick sand and there's nothing I can do about it.
I'll try moving the slider all the way down and see if that helps. *shrugs*Comment

Oh, that slider definitely works opposite to how it should. When I turned it down to zero in my cpu-cpu franchise almost no-one got caught stealing for 25 games. I've since moved the slider back up to 3 -- that seems about the right level.Comment

Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
ok more venting....
THIS IS REALLY PISSIN ME OFF, tried all types of sliders up and down and all combinations in between. I get a good jump almost everytime and still get thrown out 75+% of the time, the coach gives me the steal sign and i go on a good count to go on and when the pitcher has a long slow delivery and it may even be a off speed pitch in the dirt and guess what another caught stealing. My favorite is when the throw is way too high and the infielder jumps and comes down and then makes a swipe tag. AND WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE STUPID HEAD FIRST SLIDE that makes my runners hands jump back to his body five feef from the base. Just for kicks i swing both sticks in all directions as running toward second and they slide the same way either straight in feet first or the stupid head first no hands dive.
IF ANYONE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT LET ME KNOW ASAP, Its total bs that my player has a 99 speed and 90 + BR ABility and AGG and has a career 40% steal conversions.Comment

Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
the 'new controls' for RTTS piss me off so bad. Im holding a direction to make my guy go forward and then the camera angle decides to swing around to the opposite direction and make my guy start running the other way...
I put it to 'classic' which is so much better so far but I lose the ability to 'lean'. Is there a point to leaning? Do you get a better jump?Comment

Re: Stealing Bases in RTTS
I posted this in another thread but thought I'd rant here as well.
Is anyone at all having success with stealing in this mode?? As I do every year, I've molded a speedy CF or SS that would be a perennial league leader in steals, but that is virtually impossible this year. It is quite frustrating to invest so much time and points in to this and not be rewarded in the least. I have 99 speed, 96 BR Ability should be able to steal at LEAST at a 90% success rate; however, AAA catchers were able to mow me down 40 percent of the time?! In 09, in AAA I stole 93 bases with a 70ish speed rating and was thrown out 15 to 20 times. This year in AAA I managed 29 steals, getting thrown out 16 times with 96-99 speed and 90-96 BR Ability. Enough of my rant as I know many of you are having the exact same issue, even when making the reverse slider adjustment. My question is, is anyone having any success stealing bases in this mode at all? Have any of you managed say 50 SBs in a season with a 90% success rate? If so, what is your strategy?? Are there particular counts you steal on? I'm about to hang this mode up, and I'm actually considering trading this back in for 09 because this issue has made this mode unplayable for me, and I play RTTS more than any mode on any game. Those of you that have been experiencing any success at all please share any advice.Comment

I'm seeing exactly the same! last year I could steal second then third pretty much all the time on any catcher and had a LOT of steals! this year, when using the classic controls, there's no way of sliding, so that's out, but when you use the L stick, it seems like you get a great jump then all of a sudden, you slow right down and you start running through treacle! i really don't get it!I posted this in another thread but thought I'd rant here as well.
