Can anyone tell me if they see way to many ground balls hit very soft that the fielders miss.....they just go under there glove? Would reaction time cure this problem? I am starting to get really frustrated!! Any help with these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
Ok...i am really starting to struggle bad with this game. I have started a franchise with the Yankees, and i am 0-6...Rodriguez, and Texeira are bating under 200....I'm starting to really get impatient at the plate. I wasn't like this 2 days ago, but all of a sudden i am...Is there any advice you can give me on this? I am also struggling with pitching with the Yankees Pitchers...

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
Oh no, the dreaded slump. Just like in real life, players tend to fall into slumps in this game. And the worst part is, it's entirely mental. Once your confidence is shaken, you fall into bad habits and it's really hard to get out of them.
My best advice is, take a day or two off. Bench yourself. Step away from the game. Go play an older baseball game you enjoy to tide you over and remind yourself of certain certainties... such as, even with the best hitter you're going to fail a lot, as per real life... a pitch down the middle doesn't equal a guaranteed hit... and so on. Then come back to it with a refreshed outlook and realistic expectations.
Also, I'd say don't try to raise the average of your players, it'll have the reverse effect. Try to draw out the at bat as long as you can, taking the walk if possible, and just try to wear down the pitchers. Then suddenly you'll be getting some hits with those same players.
I've gotten into some pretty horrendous slumps, and it's always very frustrating. But I've been on fire lately. I beat the Yankees with the Twins 15-6 the other night.

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
I will totally agree with you, with my RTTS guy I get a great hitting streak going and within a couple of hours of playing I will definitely get a hitters slump going. If I walk away from the game and come back a couple days later I'll start hitting normal again. Really weird.Oh no, the dreaded slump. if you are slumping, then work on your OBP, try to walk as much as possible. wear down the opposite pitcher's confidence and then take him deep.Comment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
would help to know what level u play on. How many pitches is the cpu throwing per game?
if its anything less than 120 then your not being patient. I rarely ever swing at the first pitch and always try to make the cpu throw at least 1 strike before i swing. now that is a general thing obviously. But you gotta work the count. Try and get at least 2 walks per game...make it a goal
also, i suggest turning the CPU strike frequency slider down to 3. Otherwise the cpu will pound the K zone and thats not realisticComment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
I thought about both teams...There both pretty beefy.....I wish you didn't have to control all 30 teams in franchise to keep the rosters straight......i will start the chise soon..just dunno who i will use....Comment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
i hated the thought of controlling 30 teams. But its really no different than controlling 1 team. Everything is set to auto so the cpu still controls the other 29 teams.
plus the cpu doesnt make bad choices in there lineup changes. i am at may 1 and i havnt seen anything odd in their lineup moves. Most havnt done anything. A few have based on injuries and player performance.
the benefit to 30 control is you get to oversee everything. So if a bogus trade is proposed, u can reject it if you think its cheeseComment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
so in your franchise do you set everything to auto for all the teams?? I like doing most of the things for my team, except i don't like to do it for all the other teams....is this possible?Comment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
absolutely. I only control my team, the indians. the other 29 are controlled by the cpu. The cpu controls everything for those 29 teams. I just have the option to make any changes to those teams as i see fit
you should already have a user profile setup. So you start you chise and hit square to select all 30 teams. Goto your team and switch it from "no profile" to your user profile. All 29 other teams should say no profile.
Then hit start to goto the next screen which will have global and profile settings. For global, set all the options to auto. Roster control should be set to off. Instant trade should also be off (this is important)
Then R1 to goto profile settings and set those to manual. You can also changes these settings later from the gameplay menu in the chise.
your all set now. The cpu will do everything for those 29 teams. Now i said to have instant trades off. This makes the cpu teams think about a proposed trade for a day or 2. What u will want to do is check the transaction options and scroll to pending and proposed trades. I would check this everyday.
if u see somthing bogus for a CPU teams just go in and reject it before the other CPU team accepts it. If u check daily you should have nothing go thru that u think isnt realistic
this is really the only thing i watch. The cpu is pretty fair about everything else. If your a guy who wants the lineups to look like the MLB lineups all the time, then u will have to set lineups to manual in the global settings to prevent the cpu from making any changesLast edited by Maynard; 04-08-2010, 11:04 PM.Comment

Re: Really Starting to Struggle with this Game..
Hey - I was getting my *** handed to me at the plate as well for a while.
Then I tried "Guess Pitch, Classic 1/6" - and I always guess Straight Down - so i never fall for junk in the dirt. Which probably saves me 4-5 K's a game.
I'm doing a helluva lot better now and no longer feel helpless at the dish.
Plus, everyone's right - you gotta stay mentally tough in this game. Impossible to play if you've had too much to drink or you're not focused!
