What is your breaking point? (this is not about bugs and glitches)

So I am in my Reds Franchise and after starting 2-2, I have lost TEN straight. I am intersted in knowing a couple of things. First, what is the longest losing streak you have ever had that you stuck with?

Second, and I know this is a little bit of a taboo subject, what does it take for you to say enough is enough and start your franchise over? Some of the things I have seen in this losing streak have me scratching my head because of the timing in which they happen but, I am beginning to come out of a prolonged hitting slump and playing much tighter games. I have considered it. I am not going to lie but then I think " maybe i will just end up 2-12 again so not worth it."

Just interested to hear some opinions on the subject.

I don't restart. Once I begin my franchise I stay the course..for better or for worse.

Worst losing streak this year has been 6 straight I believe.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I started my franchise over after starting 10-23.

23-30 now in the second go, but speaking of losing, I was 21-19. Ugh. Hate to even think about it.

This thread is just gonna get filled with negative vibes, man. I'm getting the heck out of here.

I dont know about that. I hope not. That is very specifically why I qualified the thread that it wasnt about bugs and glitches (mostly in an attempt to keep it open). There are a ton of threads about acheiving this or that in the game. Here you can feel comfortable talking about losing.

        Winning is for losers. LOL.

Where? If I didn't have this game and looked at this forum I'd swear the entire game is broken, scripted, fixed, etc., etc.

I never start a franchise until I'm absolutely comfortable with the game. I know a lot of gamers jump right in, throw it on LEGEND and start.......losing, lol, and wonder why. Not saying you've done that, but, if you want to start over, that's fine, but I can suggest starting on ROOKIE and working your way up to a comfort level, a game at a time. Hitting is different this year, just look at the explanation of the levels for hitting. Nothing wrong with that. I've gone from HOF in 08, to AS with 09 and am now playing on VET with some slider adjustments, am currently 9-8 with the Nats. If I had to play on ROOKIE to get the game to work for me, I would, as the game is definitely "adjustable" for all gamers.....if you give it time.

Also you've got to get a lot of games under your belt to get a real feel for how the game works. I know last year, after trying to "find" the right sliders I finally settled on AS DEFAULT and hallelujah, the game played fine.

I've had several 8 game losing streaks in MLB 09. My longest thus far is only 6. Also had a 9 game winning streak in 09.

In Season, I could see being frustrated and starting over, since it's for only one season.

But if you are playing Franchise, I think I would take the approach that there are going to be bad seasons. If you are highly frustrated by the current season, why not simulate most of your games until the next season? Focus on making the moves you need to make and drafting the players you need to draft to build a successful team.

I may be the worst this way and it's not about winning and losing. I can start 10-0 or 0-10 and it makes no difference. However, if I see 7 or 8 games that are 3-2 or 2-1 I feel like the sliders are wrong and start over. The same bodes with high scores, etc. Maybe I am ADHD and don't know it but it is horrible to be like this because I NEVER finish a franchise in ANY game.

162 games is a lot. Stick with it..all it takes is a couple of torrid weeks.
Even power teams have a 10 game stretch or so, where they arent playing their greatest.

If you are using a middle of the road, to bad team, you SHOULD have problems maintaining consistency. They are a mediocre team for a reason.

No I think I have it much worse. If I win 10 in a row (never happened) then, and only then do I start thinking there must be something wrong with the game. Losing 10 straight may be frustrating but hey. at least I know the game is playing right where it should be

Great posts and insights from everybody. I do think that to restart or not is an intersting and somewhat polarizing topic.

As for me I DID NOT restart. Just finished a game Reds V Dodgers. Went a little something like this:

Scoreless until the 5th, Brandon Phillips doubles home Orlando Cabrerra from 1st. In the meantime, I am throwing a no hitter with Mike Leake of all people. I get through Casey Blake in the 8th but with 1 out, Russell Martin breaks it up on a ground ball through the through the hole just out of the reach of Phillips. I bring in a couple relivers to get through the 8th. I get the first out of the ninth and then Manny hits a deep fly ball to right that I have a play on but I misplay it into a triple. Bring the infield in, next batter grounds the ball to Cabrera, I glance at third, hes going but i had already comitted to first..UGHH! So I played the right defense and still messed up. LOL.

Happy ending though, Drew Stubbs hits a walkoff two run homer in the 11th. I must have just needed to make a thread about the streak because I have never come anyhere near a no hitter. My team ERA going into the game was 6.03 .

                        Good stuff.

I only really restart my franchise when my K totals are unusually high. Say an average of 10 or more a game. That's the point where I am really pressing the issue and get really frustrated.

Currently I am sitting 3-5 with my Cubs and am REALLY struggling to score runs. Pitching has been great but just cannot string together any hits and I am swinging at everything. K totals are a bit high but I just told myself, stay the course, it's a long season and it has to get better.

On another note though, the only other reason I re-start is if there was some glitch or bug that really messed my franchise up.

I hit one of my breaking points today. I started out 11-5 and now I am 15-16. 4-11 in my last 15. I had a 13-11 11 inning loss where I came back from 6-0 and then 11-6 to lose, then next game was a 13 inning 1-0 loss. I have had it all thrown at me so far. I started a game today and Felix Hernandez walked 3 batters and hit 1 in route to giving up 5 runs in the 1st inning and I lost it. I have been throwing a ton of balls in my past 15 games so for the 1st time I quit the game and turned up my pitching consistency 1 click and restarted the game. I came back to win 5-3 with 3 runs in the 9th capped off by a David Wright 2 run homerun.

I have never restarted a franchise, but I was fed up with throwing ball after ball then right down the heart for a hit, rinse and repeat lol...
