Is the power swing stronger in 10 than 09?

Is it just me, or is the power swing button a lot more effective in 10 than 09.
Or maybe I just didn't know how to use the Power swing in 09.

If I hit any ball down the middle or anywhere a portion on the plate, its 90% of the time a double or HR. And I play with Hitting on Legend with everything default except Fielder run speed.

I don't remember it like this before, I remember it caused more pop ups and weak grounders. But this year, it just rakes everything if you use it with a power hitter. I'm hitting HR's at least once a game with Jason Bay.

Maybe it's just me but I suspect that at least one of the developer's are BIG Jason Bay fans if you know what I mean.

      It's not just Jason Bay....
I have a rookie with high power, low contact and low plate vision, and if he hits anything with Power string, he just rakes it. He's hitting .375 at the end of the first month in the season with a slugging percentage of .783.

I use power swing for Adam Dunn on my O's franchise, at the end of apreil he is hitting around .300 with 8 bombs and 28 rbi. it works lol

Yea I was actually hitting .500 with Jason Bay half way through April and he had 6 HR's, I actually had to sim some games to bring his .BA to a more realistic level.
If you hit a ball over the plate with Power Swing, it usually in the gap, off the wall, HR, or if it is a grounder, usually the grounder gets through the infield too fast for a infielder to do anything with it.

Do you pitch on LEGEND as well!? You are the man! I play on Hall of Fame for both pitching and hitting and my pitching struggles on HofFame. I am ranked 27th in the League in ERA.

              I can't pitch on Legend.....
Its too cheesy, theres no easy outs, cpu pitchers hitting HR's isn't an anomaly on Legend pitching. I can only pitch on HOF. Its a lot easier to Hit if your patient and learn the cpu's tendencies than to Pitch in this game.

The power swing is not cheese in my opinion because there is no check swing with it. It is all or none.

Well its a cheese with with Guess Pitch I guess, lol.
If I know it isn't a fast ball, I know I can wait on the pitch to break over the middle to rake it.

Perhaps I will give the power swing another try since I am way down in the team home run category. Should I turn swing influence back on?

Yes. It can be hard to use power swing unless you are disciplined. I hit a LOT of homeruns. I go up there with a power hitter and hit UP before each pitch. If it's in a place I can drive I swing with power swing. If it's too far inside or outside, or too low I let it go. Power swing is awesome, but if you get jammed or swing at a low pitch it actually tends to give you worse contact than the normal swing. If it's not too far inside or too far outside you will drive it hard with the right timing. I think using the UP influence helps a great deal, too. I pull 95% of my power swing home runs. It's hard to hit an opposite field home run for me. Offspeed pitches down the middle of the plate are nearly a 50/50 chance of a home run for me with Jim Thome and perfect timing + up and power swing.

You don't have to use swing influence to cheese with Power Swing, I never use swing influence and hit 7 HR's one game.
I'm going to reset Pitch Speed to default though, I think that will help make it a lot more difficult to use Power swing. I have been playing with it at 3 at first than had to move it to 4, I think its time to play at default.

Does power swing help you get around on fast balls better? I have the speed turned all the way down and still can't manage to get around on anyone's fastball, even ones in the high 80's/ low 90's. It could be my TV, but I didn't seem to have this much trouble my first season. I just had C.C. pitch against me and I was late on his sliders.

In '09 it felt too risky to use it because your timing had to be perfect. In '10, I use it every time I guess the pitch right. I only play in RTTS mode.

just might be me, but compared to last years game, i dont hit as many hr with contact. i made the change a month ago to power swing and its very noticable.

my rtts slugger got hot in the post season recently, i only power swing with him, and i hit 7 HR in 9 games. we lost to the phillies in the NLCS, so it could have been more. i bat on hall of fame with adjusted sliders. i really like his hot zones though so it kinda makes it easy, i just wait for mistake pitches left high in the zone or in the wheelhouse, and they get crushed.
