need help please

Ok, I'm in a Franchise controlling all 30 teams, but my main team is the Red Sox. I am trying to keep the rosters as close to the real life ones as I can (I'm weird, I know), and I just got to the point where the Sox traded for Kevin Cash. He wasn't on the Astros 40-man roster when I traded for him so now I can't add him to the Red Sox 40-man roster since it tells me "Only free agents may be added to the 40-man roster between November 20th and the Rule 5 Draft in December". What can I do to get him on the 40-man roster so I can get him on the MLB roster???!!! I'm in July so maybe I'm just dumb, but I don't get why the game is telling that. I also rrrrrreally don't want to start my franchise over. Thanks for any help!

I keep all teams rosters current, so it's not too "weird", lol. I'm current in the real season, playing a game a day and I've never come across this and see it posted several times (regarding adding FAs). With all the callups/send downs I do (as I don't injure people) I would think I would have come across this.

If I PM you can you send me your franchise so I can take a look at it?

i never thought to just send up/call down people instead of injuring all of them. that would be much easier. how would i do that? just save it to a zip drive and then attach it in the PM? I'll have to try that tomorrow then. thanks

I'm like you, anal, lol (no offense). I keep all the teams rosters current DAILY, BUT, I tried manually injuring players, but it was a pain. I never play AAA/AA games so I just send the player injured (real life injury) down to the minors and bring up his replacement. Saves time and gets it done for me.

I play with ROSTER CONTROL ON and don't bother with transportation, budgets, none of that stuff (set it all to AUTO, anything involving player movement/lineups/FAs I set to MANUAL) as I play only one season with the franchise mode.

If you can put that file on SENDSPACE I can just download it and take a look at it, or zip it and send it via an email to me.

You could release and then resign him or trade him back and have the astros release him so you can sign him then your team wont have to eat the salary

yea i like your idea better (sending rather than injuring) and i have my franchise set up the same way.

i had this problem with another player as well. i tried releasing him and waiting until he was a FA then resigning him - that didn't work. i also tried claiming him off waivers and that still gave me the same stupid message.

i'll see what i can do about uploading that.

Anyone every figure out a workaround for this problem? I'm still playing '10 and this has recently happened to me with a couple of players - Jonny Gomes and Chris Snyder.
