Dealing with a blowout.
Ok we all have those games where we are getting hit left and right and it happens way to early in the game. Last week I was getting torn apart by another team I can't remember who it was, but I gave up 6 runs in the first two innings. So I ended up fast forwarding the game to the end. I felt that this is was bit cheap because one must deal with the sweet and sour moments. I've never repeated this after that one time, but I would like to get your guy's take on how you deal with massive scores against your way early in the game.Favorite teams:

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
If I am getting blown out early in the game I still hold onto the slim chance of coming back, but my approach is a lot more aggressive at the place. Usually I am very patient in my approach, but getting down big quick I am doing a lot more hit and runs and anything I can to score runs. -
Re: Dealing with a blowout.
i'll still usually play the game if the defecit isn't too extreme, chance of a comeback and i also play to try and improve upon players stats and what not. but if the score is just a ridic amount that i pretty much have no shot of coming back from i'll just fast forward to the end and move on to the next gameMLB: Yankees

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
I keep playing til the end. Don't wanna miss out on that miracle comeback.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
Me too, i like to lose, as much as i love to win in baseball videogames
It doesn't matter how bad Im loosing, i sub in my bench players and bring the bullpen early and give some work to those long relievers!Comment

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
Usually I have no problem losing, but these games take up to an hour minimum and right now I have no problem because I got back to the University on the 18th of August, but when there's not as much time to play I wonder if fast forwarding the game is not such a bad idea. I mean huge blowouts not like 3-5 run leads, I'm talking about 8 or 9 run lead very early in the game.Favorite teams:

You don't have to convince us, if that is what you need to do if you are pressed for time there is no foul!Usually I have no problem losing, but these games take up to an hour minimum and right now I have no problem because I got back to the University on the 18th of August, but when there's not as much time to play I wonder if fast forwarding the game is not such a bad idea. Re: Dealing with a blowout.
I know I don't have to get people's approval or anything like that lol, but is that considered a bit loser-ish to just play through the game when it's all nice and good? I just wanted to hear people's opinions and approach towards this kind of thing. Just something to think about

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
Normally, my approach is taking the first pitch every time, and really seeing the ball well before I swing, but when I get blown out, I usually get frustrated and swing at the first pitch much more often. I also swing at many high fastballs and low curves/changes.No Images in SigComment

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
I'd never sim a game.
I was getting ROCKED one time by KC, they plated 7 runs before I even got the first out. I yanked my starter and it ended up being 8-0 after the first. I ended up winning the game. Goes to show you just never know what can happen.Comment

I remember one game in my franchise where Yovani was pitching and gave up 7 through i think 2 1/3. we were down 7-0 and we manufactured 7 runs to tie it at 7 all in the bottom of the 9th only to give up 8 runs in the 10th! It was frustrating but fun at the same time.Comment

Re: Dealing with a blowout.
Same thing here. Once I get behind by a good amount of runs (like 6 or more) early in the game, I start to press a lot at the plate. It ruins my basic approach of the game which is to work the count and take pitches until I find good ones to hit. Once I get down by a lot however I tend to get frustrated and swing at stupid pitches which just makes it harder to come back. Thats when I fast forward to the end lol.Normally, my approach is taking the first pitch every time, and really seeing the ball well before I swing, but when I get blown out, I usually get frustrated and swing at the first pitch much more often. Re: Dealing with a blowout.
In my pirates franchise during a Maholm start I got rocked for 9 runs in the first inning. During that inning I had both my longest stamina relievers warming, twice! I decided to stick with Maholm and so be it he gave me 5 more good innings of work. I ended up losing the game, Maholm's era went way up and it was a tough first inning to get through. I don't mind blowouts as I've layed a few myself.
When you use the Pirates for a franchise you aren't going to score many runs to begin with but I'm trying to build this team into a winner. My starters must have quality starts more than not. That wasn't a good one for Maholm and it sticks in my mind. No matter what side of the plate I was hitting the Rockies were rocking it.
Currently still in my first year.Comment
