The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.

Anyone know alot about a player's "clutch" rating? Is this more for simming? Or does a player's ratings maybe boost up a bit during a clutch situation when you're actually playing, not simming.....
I noticed some players with decent hitting ratings, but poor clutch ratings. I wondered if it actually comes into play.
I've always assumed that the game has a system in place where "clutch" situations are deemed, and thus, said player would get a moderate ratings boost/cut.
I'd love to get a Dev or informed OS member answer on this. Possibly even some roster makers may know exactly how the clutch system is implemented.
pretty good question. i think the simple answer is yeah it makes you better in clutch situations (obviously), however how so ? for example if im a batter in risp and down a run or two, does it effect the way im pitched to or the contact/power on my part.
It is my best guess that when the controller vibrates, you are in a clutch situation. I could be wrong here, but it does seem to happen at times when clutch is needed. Now how it works on the game and what kind of boost or drop in ratings is well beyond me.

Oh yeah!
The vibration on my PS3 controller doesn't work anymore, but when it did, the situations were always tense ones.

I could have sworn that "heartbeat" the controller gave off was more to the fact of "nerves", but I guess it could be a clutch situation as well, considering that the nerves could be positive or negative based on clutch rating.
Would be cool if Brian poked in and explained a bit on clutch, without spilling secret sauce... but I imagine they are insanely busy right now. Should keep this thread in mind when the code gets locked and the game goes gold!

Agreed. Brian probably can't go into too much detail on it, but may shed some insight as to when 'clutch' kicks in.
One of us should bump this when he comes back on...
Which I have to say, is my FAVORITE time of year on OS. I just read his posts in complete awe. With my mouth on the tiles. He's genius, there's no doubt about it.

It is even crazier when you you talk to him in person. Very exciting to talk to, and pure passion in the way he explains everything!
I love listening to the technical side of things, and it is a real treat when you can talk to him about it!
