I really want to go young, so I am going to switch up and put Carlos Silva as a long reliever, 100% have Cashner in the rotation and depending on Randy Wells rating either have him as the #5 or put him in the pen and have James Russell or Shark Samardjiza in there.
I also am going to have Dempster be my #1, Zambrano my #2 and Garza my #3. Being the "#1" on opening day is overated, and although I think Garza is the best of the 3 I just think having the Dempster #1 is smart. Garza will be the best #3 starter in the majors (besides maybe Roy Oswalt).
I also plan on trading Fukudome for some prospects and start Colvin in RF and having Reed Johnson on the bench.
Here is how I plan on having my lineup
1. SS Starlin Castro
2. CF Marlon Byrd
3. RF Tyler Colvin
4. 3B Aramis Ramirez
5. 1B Carlos Pena
6. LF Alfonso Soriano
7. C Geo Soto
8. 2B Blake DeWitt
As for bullpen, depending on how Randy Wells is rated compared to James Russell and Samardjiza, it will look like
Closer - Carlos Marmol
Lefty Setup - Sean Marshall
Righty Setup - Kerry Wood
Middle Relief - Samardjiza*, James Russell (LHP)*, Casey Coleman
Long Relief - Carlos Silva
Rotation:
1. Ryan Dempster
2. Carlos Zambrano
3. Matt Garza
4. Andrew Cashner
5. Randy Wells
A little troubling that we won't have any lefty starters unless Russell earns the spot this spring, but I think that is a very solid pitching staff regardless.
GO CUBS GO!
