Why have legends been removed this year?

Just wondering why there are no more legends in this years game? I have heard they have been taken out and there won't be gold and silver era teams anymore. Anyone know why they were taken out? We've always had legends in the game ever since mlb 06, wonder why they took them out this year?

i know i won't miss them

with the player vault and all, i guess SCEA thinks we'd rather create our own than play with their created players

i wouldn't be surprised if they were availible in the player vault on march 8th... (just speculation)

That's not why though.
License...they no longer have an agreement with retired players or their estates and are not going to individually negotiate with them.

Well this might be the last year for me. No new classic stadiums, no league custimization, now no legend players? Im buyng this year to check out the new controls and Im really intrigued on the camera angle thing but really wanted some more throwback friendly features.

Well this might be the last year for me. No new classic stadiums, no league custimization, now no legend players? Im buyng this year to check out the new controls and Im really intrigued on the camera angle thing but really wanted some more throwback friendly features.

There is league customization.
I did a whole write up on it in the community day impressions thread.
It's not an actual feature built solely for classic seasons....but the online custom league setup will allow you to set up the league as you wish....allowing only the teams you want in any setup you wish to(Milwaukee back in the A.L for instance)
It's a "work around" of sorts.....so the schedule is not editable....and while you can choose how many 3 game series you like...you can't choose 154 games exactly(It works out to 156)....
...and the Vault will be filled with classic players I would imagine...MUCH more than the standard Gold/Silver teams the SCEA(graciously I might add) provided.

Knight, do you know if we can create players and place them on teams with retired numbers now?

I hate using a generic Mantle with like #30 or something...

Nope.
That's locked into the teams.
I've asked them repeatedly to open it...but I think it was an MLB "request" to honor each teams retired numbers(especially 42).

Yes they are. The guy is just upset cause they didnt add NEW ones to the list.

Thanks Knight for going to bat for us.

We do our best to show our respect to the baseball greats by creating the best rendition we can.
Most roster guys want perfection. We put in the hours weeks months and even years into creating our boyhood hero's.

I hope that if and when we can create uniforms in future games that SCEA lets us create our own numbers. This would be done in the privacy of our own homes. No lawyers involved!

An example of respect I have shown in hours:

Mickey Mantle...over 600 hrs
Hank Aaron...500+ hrs
Willie Mays...200 hrs
Stan Musial...50 hrs
The thought of these players not wearing their numbers doesn't show honor to the player or the guy who bought the game.
I am asking SCEA to please give us a cheat.

if you bought them last year, then yes.

At least that is my understanding. If you didn't buy them, I believe they will still be available as DLC this year.

What does this mean for the left field wall at Busch Stadium?

The last couple of years Bob Gibson was not in the game, so he was not on the LF wall, just his number and silhouette.

Does this mean there will only be numbers on the wall with silhouettes or what?

This is correct.

If you bought them, they are tied to your PSN account so you'll be good to go.
