Influencing contact, guess pitch share controls?

Perhaps I'm missing something here...

The "guess pitch" function is R2 plus the pitch icon and/or the strike zone location (using the left analog stick). That's what the manual says, and clearly, it works.

However, the in-game control menu says to influence your contact - say, if you want to try and hit a sacrifice fly - it's also R2 plus the left analog stick in one of four directions.

It seems I'm missing something - anytime I try to influence a direction using what the in-game control menu says, I'm changing the location of my pitch guess... as you'd expect.

So... is the menu in error and the command to influence contact something else, or am I simply not doing it correctly?

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

I think that is a typo. The R2 + LStick.

R2 + RStick Up and Down gives 'rumble' confirmation, but there doesn't seem to be Left or Right influence this year... Unless it's there but just doesn't 'rumble'.

Anyhoot, yes, would love to know definitively from any Dev if possible.

Also does anyone know if they took out the simple guess pitch for rookie,where the guessed correct pitch always shows up,because the corners are only lighting up

A few years back The Show manual stated left/right is used for bunting only and I have a feeling it's the same way now.

You should be able to adjust L/R direction by timing your swing.
