I'm referring to when you're at bat and you push down on the D-pad to ask for time out to step out of box.

I wonder if this rattles the pitcher or helps (or hurts) your ratings while hitting . Especially if you do it several times.

It does not hurt you. Not sure if it affects the CPU pitcher but I know it affects the human opponent!

THIS !

Hahaha it would be kind of cool if it did help you at the plate like if you were nervous maybe it calms you down or makes you more nervous, kinda like when you choose mound visit when pitching

Re: Is there any benefit or penalty to calling time out while hitting?

I think it's there for two reasons:

1. Because it's in the real game.

2. To give the USER some time.

I'm not sure if the CPU uses it. Haven't taken long enough to pitch to find out but I do know that facing Roy Halladay (which is demoralizing enough), he decided to take his sweet time throwing a pitch with a runner on so I called time to collect myself. He was making me nervous just standing there.
