    Batted balls hitting pitcher

This is starting to get as annoying as the beach balls on the field used to be.

Anyone else having the pitcher pelted by linedrives every game?

And they're never hurt from what I've experienced.

Pretty much the exact same amount as last year (too much). They've just added the animation where the trainer comes out for a visit. That was put in because people bitched last year that the pitcher was always unfazed by taking one off the body.

Yes, even last year I don't think I remember one time where the pitcher had to come out of the game. It occurs way to frequently, and never results in an injury despite being absolutly drilled.

I hit one off the side of of the pitches head...he went down and rolled around on the mound....stayed in the game. he should have been dead.

I almost have a notion to switch teams and take the other pitcher out of the game the next time this happens.

I just drilled... and I mean SMOAKED...a line drive off the throwing arm.

The pitcher walked around and shook it off.

          Seriously?

Either reduce how often it happens or add some bone fragments and blood clots to the game

          Watch out for broken bats!

It is going to be hard to reduce how often it happens since it is about timing. And if you are having shots up the middle, you are having perfect timing.

But adding more avoidance and/or injuries would be good as well.

Maybe a slider could be added for, depending on how hard the ball hits the pitchers, the intensity of the hits...?
I wouldn't want to turn a frequency slider down and still see little dribblers off of feet occasionally knocking pitchers out of games.

I am seeing it happen about 3 times as often as last year. It feels like the analog hitting is aiding the 2011 Twins lineup in it's literal assault on each and every opposing pitchers body.

I like jmik's idea of if you think in your mind that the hit was serious enough, simply switching team controls and manually taking the pitcher out as a easy work around for now.

I wonder if the Devs could base injury or not off the speed of the hit, since they get posted once and awhile on hot line drives ie: 10omph or higher = injury??

I don't think having the pitcher get injured is the solution because it happens WAY too much. I've had multiple games where I have hit the pitcher numerous times.

As much as I hate to say it, I'd rather the ball just ghost through the pitcher if he can't field it. I'd much rather see that than witness the pitcher taking one square in the face only to casually bend down, pick the ball up, and throw me out like it was routine.

                      Re: Batted balls hitting pitcher

Well in most cases the pitcher should throw a glove out but at the same time be trying to avoid it. So while he MAY catch it a few times, it shouldn't hit him but a couple times a year as he's dodging it.

Playing RTTS just now and I'm on 2nd waiting to be hit in, the batter smokes it a grounder up the middle and the pitcher stands there with his chest out and takes it off the foot. He walks over to it like nothing happened and threw him out.

Now what should have happened is the pitcher realized the guy is only so many feet away from him with a ball coming out at least 80MPH from the bat. In a real game, the pitcher swings his foot out of the way and tries to throw his glove down, missing it about 80-90% of the time.

I guess we need more "get out of the way" animations to combat the pitchers being hit.

Maybe it's just me but I've only had it happen a few times in over 20 or so games. I hit balls up the middle but the overwhelming majority either go left, right, or above the pitcher.

I agree. And like I said, I could see them fixing this so injuries occur, only to have them happen unrealistically, where weak bouncers trigger unrealistic injuries also.
As cool as the new animations of pitchers getting hurt must be (haven't seen one yet), sounds like they're not frequent enough.

Yes def need to have more animations for the pitcher getting out of the way. Something like if the ball comes off the bat at 98+mph he can't react fast enough and gets hit bit slower than that he can move. I have saved funny videos of the pitcher getting nailed in the face as well as the family jewels and just tossing the guy out. However last year I saw King Felix get knocked out of the game from one and this year Matt Garza is out 1-2 months from taking one off the chest. But in the grand scheme of things it's really only like 5% of the time.
