Thrown out at 1b from RF

I have thrown a couple of slow runners out with a almost certain hit at RF but never was thrown out by the CPU at 1b.

What about you? Did you get thrown out at first? or ever thrown a slow runner out at first?

I have done it once back in 09. threw tim lincecum out from RF. also in 10 in RTTS when you start out with like a 50 speed I grounded into a 5-4-3 triple play.

At our softball game Monday (I played during my torn hammy rehab and did not run...I hobbled), I hit a soft blooper to left center and the OF tried to throw me out at First...

He didn't, but it was amusing.

I used to do this with Ichiro in RF on MLB2k5 all the time. IRL, they NEVER throw to first from RF. I think it like a gentlemans rule, because I have seen plenty of times where a good throw from the RF (Ichiro) would easily nail the runner going to first, but they never try it. It is like they don't throw out of respect for getting the hit or something. Me? I throw. Always.

It could be worse. Sean Casey was once thrown out from left field. How do you explain that one?

I've thrown out someone once before. It happens in MLb too, not too often of course.

I've tried it quite a bit but Fielder's almost never on the bag when he catches it.

I figured they made the first basemen stay off the bag on hits to the OF so guys wouldn't be able to throw out players due to slow speed. It does happen in real life very rarely so I can see where they wouldn't want guys getting thrown out too frequently. Might just have to be right time and place. I've tried about 2 times, and both times it would've been close but my 1st basemen was way off the bag. Making it even harder to judge if it would've even worked.

Re: Thrown out at 1b from RF

I did it in 10 with Cuddyer. I don't remember who was running though. I try it in 11 quite a bit but the 1st baseman is always standing on the edge of the infield dirt so thats where the ball is thrown. It's almost impossible to do it in this game because of that.

In real life however Michael Cuddyer tries it occasionally. I love this play because nobody who gets a base hit to right field should take a slow jog to first. Run your butt to first base hard. If you don't like someone throwing from right to first base, run hard. It's as simple as that. Your an MLB player so play like one. I understand that some guys are just flat out slow or injured. Last year I remember the Twins played the Tigers and Cuddyer tried throwing out Ordonez on his hit to RF. Ordonez turned and gave Cuddyer a nice stare down.

I threw out Helton from a 1-hopper to Upton. The hop was like 2 feet in front of him and just threw it to first and go him out.

uggh I remember those days. Turbile. ....

...and because of those triple play days we still have a house rule in effect that you don't throw to first from RF ever.
