It would definitely slow down those that quick pitch all of the time.

Re: Balks
Question: Do balks happen in offline vs. CPU games? I've tried to balk on purpose and can't get one called. I thought I read somewhere it was only for online, but couldn't find where I read that.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins

Re: Balks
They most certainly are! I balked in the winning run yesterday in the bottom of the 19th inning.

Re: Balks
^^ Ouch, that had to hurt.
I like the fact that balks are in the game, and wish I had the patience to play with them turned on. But, I have to admit that I play with them off. I usually don't get to play until late at night when everyone else has gone to bed, and I try to fit one game in and still get to bed at a decent time to get up for work the next day. I just don't want to take the time to be that deliberate and be sure I come to complete stop on each pitch. Not sure how much time it actually saves by having the feature off...probably not much.
I don't play online, so I'm not one of those who quick-pitches all the time.Comment

Re: Balks
The only time I get called for balks is if I'm getting lit up and I am trying to get the inning over and I pick the pitch and just start right into the motion as was posted above.
Frustration= balks lol.Comment

Re: Balks
I shut the balks off after too many wtf moments. I almost never see them in real life (I follow an AL team if that matters anymore) and there were half a dozen in the first month of my Show season. With no rhyme or reason behind them happening I just thought they were annoying.Comment

Re: Balks
Just like all other sports games, you should/can be allowed to turn off every rule.
For NHL, you can make a game with no icing, offsides, penalties ect.
So for MLB, you should be able to turn on and off w/e rule you want.
Balks are just to make the game more realistic. If users were allowed to pitch whenever they wanted, the baserunner would never get to take a leadoff step unless the user purposely waited to see if they did.Comment

Re: Balks
It's based on how fast you try to go to the plate with a pitch after you chose it. It's basically simulating you not getting properly set. You can actually see your pitcher get set after selecting a pitch, so if you wait that out, you won't get balks.I shut the balks off after too many wtf moments. That said, I turned them off as well as sometimes, when I am cruising along, I don't feel like waiting out the animation. Plus, the AI doesn't get balks, so it doesn't feel so much realistic as it does a handicap. If the AI could get them too, then I'd keep them on and wait out the animation for the sake of realism though.Comment

Re: Balks
the problem i have with balks is that the cpu never balks...it seems like the human can only balkComment

Re: Balks
That's exactly how it is this year. The AI isn't in the game to make the CPU balk yet. The devs have told us as much. It's really just in there to limit the human quick-pitch for this year.
Because of that, I'm playing with it off in my single-player games.Comment
