Re: Braves and Gold Gloves
Re: Braves and Gold Gloves
When the game decides it, it picks the player with the highest fielding percentage, starting with the first team in alphabetical order in the NL East or AL East. Thus a lot of gold glove winners will be Braves and Orioles (Atlanta and Baltimore).Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Braves and Gold Gloves
I was going to ask about this...
I had the same conclusions (Braves and Orioles) always seem to win the GG's. Then I had a few years, same fielding %, but I had more POs and ASTs, and yet Markakis got the GG over Byron Buxton (Twins).
Then it also seems to default to the AL East and NL East...NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves

I mean, it wouldn't be crazy for Freeman, Simmons, Heyward and BJ Upton to win it in a yearComment

Yeah, the irony is I didn't question it too much at first - perhaps just focused on other stats/awards.
As it's quite logical for many of the Orioles, Machado at 3B, Hardy at SS, and Jones at CF to actually win a GG (have in real life). Then on the Braves side, Simmons at SS and Heyward at RF...really happen. But when Chris Davis won his 7th GG in a row I got a bit suspicious and THENwhen Wieters was beating Joe Mauer despite Mauer having better Fielding %, assists, and PO's...I was like whaaaaa.NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves

Yeah, I find it weird that Atlanta Braves players always win gold glove awards in the show, and some goes to that Baltimore Orioles players almost always win gold glove awards, if not always in the show. Why does the show have a gold glove bias favorable to Braves and Orioles players? I'm sick and tired of it happening, but I still love the show, though.Last edited by RecordBreakerCF; 03-11-2014, 10:22 AM.Comment

Re: Braves and Gold Gloves
The reasons for the abundance of gold glovers from the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves seem:
(1) The current logic for picking candidates chooses too many deserving players who produced exactly the same stats line (e.g., fielding percentage). Some positions, many players end up having the same stats.
(2) After the leading candidates are selected, the game sorts them first by their team in alphabetical order, leading those from Baltimore and Atlanta to be ranked higher.Comment
