I'm trying not to give up on this game..but I can't hit
I'm in the 2nd week in May and hitting .207 as a team. My team leader in batting average amongst my regulars is in at .256. I use the Reds too...I just don't understand. I use the timing system and I consistently hit line drives but they are almost always to dead center or right at an infielder. I am on Veteran difficulty at the moment, I don't have problems drawing walks so it's not that I'm impatient. The only hits I seem to get are singles or homers, doubles are rare. Any help?PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Tags: None -

Timing hitting is your problem.
I suggest you switch to analog or zone and try that.
I use analog hitting online and I love it! -

I started with analog hitting but I didn't like that I had to focus on loading up my swing and deciding to swing.PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

No I started with TNK's found here on this forum. I raised solid hits a bit but still not hitting worth a damn. The odd thing is I'm not striking out...like maybe 3-6 times per game.PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

Timing Hitting is definitely not the problem. It sounds like you just need to play around with your sliders a bit. All the things you described suggest that maybe your offensive sliders are too high, causing too many perfect swings.
If you are playing with default fielder speed, definitely lower that several points. Try lowering Contact and Solid Hits by a point each, to give your hits more variety, and lower the Timing slider a point or 2 also, to reduce the number of hits that go straight up the middle, then lower Foul Frequency by 2-3 points, to make sure you actually get those hits down the line.Last edited by Bobhead; 05-02-2011, 05:06 PM.Comment

Now, opinion is one thing...
But blatantly telling a fellow OS'er that Timing hitting is the issue is awfully presumptuous...and borderline irresponsible.
Now, you may have reasons to believe this, and I'm sure you'll make some valid points...and, I have nothing against you personally (just to make that clear)...
But how would you explain my .265 batting average? Timing only. HOF.Comment

timing is by far the best for hit variences in my opinion..... analog I love the feel of it, but honestly too much power... even with timing all the way down and power around 2 i can hit two HRs a game..Comment

If you're having results like that on Veteran - I'm not sure you should be using a slider set like that.
I'm curious if you played on default and what kind of results you had out of the box?
If you are hitting with those numbers, you may get realistic numbers on default.....maybe the only thing lost would be not walking as much. If it was me I'd take that though if the hitting numbers we're realistic and I was playing close games.Comment
