Want to play a sim brand of The Show 11? Then start checking your batting analysis when the game is over! I've been doing this in my franchise and it tells me if I played a sim game and if the computer played sim as well... Sliders play a factor also... But this is how best check what's sim, not the results of playing a few games...




Remember major league averages are:

Hits: 8.8
Taken: 55%
Missed: 8.44%
Strikeouts: 6.95
Avg Pitches: 140

If you want to test your sliders, you better check the realism of these stats. Which is a combination of how you play the game and your sliders.... I know it's worked for me!

Taking single game results and comparing them to the average doesn't make sense to me.

There will always be outliers in an average, hence why it is called the average. If every game had the same exact final numbers then the dev. team has failed.

Which is why you do it over the course of multiple games, not just a single game.

It will still be different per team. It's a major league average and the better teams won't necessarily have the same numbers as the worst team.

You'd have to play every single game with every single team and then find the average.

I really wanted to show you that other stats like pitches taken can make you a better player. And you can feel good because it's also sim.

Averages are always a good starting point. How far you are you from the average? That's the question you have to ask yourself.

For example if you are playing a franchise and your team BA is at .200 - but you take only 20% of your pitches - then maybe you need to be more patient and swing at more "hitters" pitches. For those who hit great and but still only take 20% of your pitches, then maybe you're seeing too many meatballs. Then you should lower pitch consistency and make it a more realistic strike/ball ratio?

Another example : Lets say you "missing" percentage is 30% - but when you play you are swinging and missing at pitches in the strike zone. This you need to examine your PCI aim (zone), PCI size (HOF players), your timing (your skill, pitch speed, or timing slider)...

You get my point? Tools like the charts and knowing MLB averages can give you the solutions to problems and make the game a lot more sim. This way you can self analyize yourself. If you don't care about averages or sim, then this aint for you.

But what you are doing is playing towards the average. How do you expect to be a team that is leading in a certain area if you are limiting yourself towards the average?

This is a misleading example of "sim" by the way.

Yea, I was thinking that.

It's more a way to see if your game is playing out realistically. Stats show realism (or lack thereof) and "sim" is more a style of game that really isn't measured out by numbers.

You are taking my whole point out of context... Understanding the averages doesn't mean you are aiming for them, especially if your good. You the play the game to get as many hits, strikeouts, and win as much as you can.

However many of the people that play this game are under the average, especially when it comes to batting. And people are conscience of this because you hear all the time... I'm batting under way under .250, I need help! If you put a band-aid on this and just play at a lower level and still are hacking away at everything, then that's NOT very sim.

I don't understand know how you can possibily disagree with what I'm saying... Am I not being clear?

Understood. Maybe I should have tilted the thread realistic gameplay. Not sim. I've always assumed that sim style of playing, was trying to play the game in a realistic manner? Which would result in stats that are real (or lack therof)

That was a typo and meant to say that's not being very sim.
