When did you add pitch No. 4?

When did you add your RTTS pitcher's 4th pitch to there arsenal? Then subsequently when did your 5th pitch enter the equation?

Did you do it right away or did you wait a a season or so to try to master your first 3 pitches first?

I have always flipped flopped with this with each guy I make sometimes I add the 4th pitch as soon as the original points they give you sometimes I try to focus on a 3 pitch approach until I feel those 3 pitches are to my liking.

I'd kinda like to know this too. I've started my posistion player RTTS, now I need to start my CP, and SP.

Thinking of going for a Maddux type for SP, and a Venters type for the CP...
    MLB: Atlanta Braves
    NFL: Atlanta Falcons
    College: Clemson Tigers

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

I have made a RTTS pitcher yet, but when I do I hope to add my 4th pitch straight away, I like a pitcher with 2 fastballs, probably 2SFB/RFB and Cutter, Circle Change and a breaking ball...

I'll let you know once i've made one...

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

I currently am playing RTTS with a SP. 18 year old right handed phenom of my own name lol.

Anyway. I added a sinker as my fourth pitch as soon as I could.

        4SFP
        CH
        Slider
        Sinker

I do not plan on adding a 5th till I master those 4 and at least get to the Majors. I will add either a Split Fingered Fastball or a 2 seamer.

BTW I am so addicted to this mode being a starting pitcher. Drafted by the Angels and currently in Little Rock AA.

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

For my relievers, I'm not adding a 4th pitch until I establish myself as the closer at AA, or get promoted to AAA (ie, raise all of my other ratings first).

My starter added his 4th pitch (a 2-seam FB) to his 4SFB, slider, & circle change arsenal after his first start, which was a complete game shutout giving me over 700 points. He was dominant in his first half of play, got named to start the AA all star game, won that, and got called up to AAA the next day. He started in the bullpen there, and in my last play session this weekend, got moved to the rotation after his first advancement cycle was finished.

I don't have current plans to add his 5th pitch (likely a cutter), but will probably do so in his 2nd year. That is, unless I have another dominant start that gives me more than 500 pts in one go.

I even switched to Classic pitching, because I was finding analog too easy. I probably need to move up a skill level as far as pitching is concerned, but my batting isn't on par.

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

I added a cutter immediately. Plus I need 4 pitches at the least, 3 feels too predictable. I'll definitely wait to add a 5th though.

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

I started my pitcher with a fastball, change-up, and a screwball, and only added a running fastball after my first season in AAA. I've mastered my fastball and have a good change-up, it's building up that screwball and running fastball that I'm doing now.

I've thought about adding a fifth pitch once I hit the majors, but I don't know if it will be worth it. Might be better to go for more stamina or better strike ratings.

Re: When did you add pitch No. 4?

My pitcher just established himself as a starter in AAA for the White Sox. My plan is to either add a Cutter or a Slider to what I already have (4 Seam, Change, Sweeping Curve). I want to solidify my first three however, and try and get my 4 seamer to consistently sit in the low-mid 90's before I move onto a new pitch. I'm one of those accuracy over speed pitchers. I also want to gain control of my curve as well because honestly, that thing gets left up too much too. I'm starting to think that picking a sweeping curve wasn't the best idea for me haha.
