Swapping defensive positions in MLB 11

Can't you change a player's position on the middle of a game? Like, moving your RF to 1B, or your 2B to SS.

You can substitute defensively, but not swap positions. Is there any way to do this?... because this was a mayor factor in my last game.

    Thanks!

yes, you can do this. I don't remember how at this moment, but I have done it before

I think when you go to the Defensive substitution screen and select a player in the game, instead of selecting a bench player, go back to the lineup and select a player with the position you want to swap and then it will ask you if your sure you want to change positions.

Correct. To clarify, all selections will take place on the left side of the screen.

I've had an issue with this...

I couldn't change my defense when I had no bench players left. Anyone know how to fix that one? The screen is grayed out because I couldn't technically make a defensive substitution when in reality I just wanted to swap a couple players.

I just had this happen in my last game. I put it in the bug thread:

"Not really a bug... I don't think... But something that needs to be fixed.

Last game I used three pinch hitters in the top of the ninth to gain the lead, using up all my subs. The last guy off the bench I used to pinch hit in the pitcher's spot. Needless to say a lot of guys went out to play in the field out of position in the bottom half of the inning. The thing is, the game would only let me make one change, and that is to sub in a new pitcher. It wouldn't let me make any defensive changes at all. The defensive sub menu was grayed out.

It should have let me sub in the pitcher for anyone, like a double switch without the extra man coming in off the bench (since I had no subs left), and then switch guys around defensively as needed. Instead I had Johnny Damon stuck behind the plate, and other guys out of position. Even after facing a batter it wouldn't let me make any defensive changes.

I think the main problem here is that when you use up your bench, the defensive sub menu automatically gets grayed out. Obviously this shouldn't happen. A manager should be able to change a player's defensive position regardless of whether or not he has any players left on the bench."

Fortunately I still won the game, and it was a nice comeback win.

                I've definitely seen this, also.

Funny, I almost mentioned it since I saw WW post in in this thread, but I didn't want to seem pesky.
I don't care what improvement graphics and lighting get next season, "little" things like this not getting attention will be unacceptable.

Verified this bug in '11, but it appears to be fixed in latest build...for now.

Re: Swapping defensive positions in MLB 11

In a game the other day, when my bench was empty and they greyed out the "defensive substitution" option, I realized it was only greyed out when I pressed up on the d-pad (or whatever the shortcut button is that brings up options without pressing START and going through the full-blown pause menu). If I actually paused the game and went through the normal pause menu instead of the shortcut menu, it let me go into the defensive substitutions menu.

I don't think it listed my pitchers, though. Showed my bench as being empty despite having pitchers I hadn't used. I remember watching a Braves game a few years ago where Bobby Cox's bench and/or bullpen was getting thin. But he still wanted to work the pitching matchups without burning the right-handed guy who started the inning on the mound. So he moved the right-handed pitcher to left field, brought in a lefty one-out specialist to get out a lefty batter, then moved the right-hander back to the mound from left field. Since I didn't see my pitchers listed on my bench, I guess the game probably doesn't allow for making moves like that. (Not that I'd necessarily want to make those kind of moves. But, still. Would be nice to have the option.)

Kind of on line with that but the opposite...sometimes teams will use a batter as a pitcher. It would be nice to have the option to put a batter as the pitcher so you can have 9 hitters in the lineup at all times. I know a team did this a few years back in the playoffs I believe...
