Pitcher covering first base

Ok, a ball is hit toward the first baseman (pulling him off the bag), the pitcher runs over to cover first, but when I go to throw the ball from the first baseman to the pitcher at first the first baseman just hold onto it - and better yet if I tap again toward first he just does a double clutch no throw and the opposing runner gets on first every single time. This has happened at least 4 or 5 times. It's actually costed me runs and games.

Tips anyone? Maybe I should just turn off the double clutch option off??

tapping the button a second time cancels the throw that is why the double clutch is happening. you should just have to press the button once and the 1B will toss to the pitcher.
