I've been playing an RTTS pitcher for a while now. I've noticed, and this was true with the previous version of MLB as well, that there are streaks where it seems I can't do anything right on the mound. I know I'm in one when I can't get out of the first inning without giving up 2+ runs. At that point, I know it's going to be a rough game. During these streaks I've noticed the following:
1. Can't locate fastballs worth a crap despite having 90+ control on all pitches. You'll miss the perfect release marker by a hair and yet the ball will end up off the plate on the complete opposite side you're throwing to.
2. Hitters aren't fooled by balls thrown around the plate (2 seamers running in/out, cutters running in/out) nearly as much as usual. This coupled with poor location = more walks than usual.
3. Hitters absolutely club anything thrown in the strike zone. I'll be giving up back-to-back-to-back doubles or triples.
4. The defense behind you plays like crap. They are making throws over the 1st/2nd baseman's head, or dropping easy plays at a much higher rate than normal making it even harder that you're already having trouble getting guys out.
Anyway, I guess what I'm wanting to know, does anyone have any proven strategies for getting out of this funk. It just seems inevitable that I'll get into at least one 5-6 game stretch where I just can't pitch for anything every season. Any advice would be great!
Thanks.
