    Never Disappoints

The Show never disappoints. Using Jim416's Classic Roster set, the Reds outlasted the Angels in the American Greens Holiday Classic 4-3 in 11 innings with an Eric Davis walk off home run. Wow, this was a nail biter. I fell behind 3-0 against Tom Seaver but chipped away in the 5th getting 2 on, then pinch hitting Tim Salmon who belted a tying 3 run shot.

After a couple of months off from this game while in the meantime schlepping through some football action, The Show is hands down the greatest sports experience that could possibly be had. At no time during a game do I ever wish something was done differently or better. I become so engrossed in the game that I feel I am actually a part of it. The exact opposite could be said about Madden for instance; I spend over half of the time wishing for a better experience, all the time berating myself for throwing away yet another $60 for a shell of a game.

Those Reds are tough, they play with a swagger. I was happy to go the distance with them.

So rare to find a sports video game that never disappoints and is an automatic purchase when the new version is released. The Hardball series was like that. Also the Links golf franchise. Past that, I can't think of any other game... maybe High Heat and NFL 2K in their prime, that's about it.

Yeah, he did post them at one time. I drug him into that project (he swore up and down he would never do another roster). After the dang thing was done, I was done with roster making for the rest of my life too. I don't know how Knight does one every year, it's a ton of work. Jim was the whole talent in this project, he put a ton of time into and did a wonderful job. So good, I don't see how I can give these rosters up, I may hang onto 11 and forgo 12 (I'm talking big now, wait until March 6th.

Look em up, you won't be disappointed.

For sure. I enjoy loses as much as victories. The game I lost last night was a thing of beauty. I had to battle so hard to go 11. Had Davis down 1-2, 2 outs and got a damn change up a little too much in the middle of the plate (alright, right down the middle of the plate) and he tatooed it. I was trying to sneak an inning in with Al Levine before going to Bryan Harvey. Almost made it.

I'm usually pretty disappointed when I give up an opposite field HR on a fastball up and in.

I'm even kinda disappointed when I hit an opposite field HR on the same type of pitch, because it's just not very realistic. Takes some of the wind out of the sails.

Of course, but I don't see it often or if it does I take it with the many goods that preceded it.

The blast I gave up was not a fastball up and in and it didn't go opposite field. If I would have given this shot up on Christmas Eve, Norad would have had interference while tracking Santa, I'm tellin ya.

This right here. I hate this but to this games credit, I give up as many as I hit. I guess it evens out a little. Hopefully with the new ball physics you can't hit homers to the opposite field on inside pitches. In my opinion, if you go yard on an inside pitch, it should be from the pull-field (most likely) to straight away center (least likely).

One thing that was a little confusing to me in MLB 11 was the "normal" timing. Sometimes I'd hit those inside pitches out to the opposite field and think I got around on it, or at least enough to send it back up the middle. I almost felt like hitting a ball with "normal" timing meant the game would decide where it wanted the ball to go.

tried those rosters today. A lot of the players have Jeter heads. Otherwise, they looked good.

                          Another examples of firsts...
Playing in my second season. I threw 10 strikeouts against the Reds bottom of the 9th. I k'd Er. Chavez looking, after the at bat. Matty V says, " here's a little montage of the 10K's". It show all 10 strike outs. I completed the feat b4 with Hanson and I did see this. Very cool presentation....
