Best ps2 version?

My PS3 died last summer, and I am on the fence on whether or not to buy another before the next generation of consoles come out. The Show is the only game I've really gotten any long term enjoyment out of in the past several years, so I'd like to see if a PS2 version could hold me over until I upgrade.

I know there are probably not a lot of people here who have played recent PS2 versions, but any info would be appreciated.

The new consoles won't be out for at least the next year and a half. Even then, early titles won't be as solid as the ones being produced now.

Splurge and get the PS3 and this year's copy. It will have newer rosters, many more tweaks and additions as well as some new stuff that I'm sure you'll enjoy that hasn't been mentioned yet.

It's going to be hard to justify an old copy when this year's game is as good as it is and offers as much as it does.

You should stay with the PS3 because Sony said we won't expect a PS4 'till 2015 (I made up the date but they did say that you won't see it any time soon)

I started my gaming with The Show on the PSP in 08 and then in 09, I picked up the PS2 version. I thought it was very good, and from what I read, wasn't missing too much (outside of the obvious graphical differences) from the PS3 version. I think you'd be happy with that version.

I'd stay away from MLB 10 because there's a glitch (in the PSP one as well) that happens when your 2B/SS goes to cover the bag when turning a double play; they'll stop a few paces before reaching the bag and it throws the timing of the play off.

So, again, I'd recommend MLB 09 or MLB 11 if you're looking for more-current rosters.

Fair point. I don't think you can go wrong with the newest version of The Show on PS2. Development always continued as the years progressed and I think the year before last was the last copy released on PS2.

If the PS3 still might be an option for you, why not just be patient and wait? Spending money on a quick fix now, and then ultimately buying a PS3 again doesn't seem like a good use of resources. Why not just put that money towards the PS3 and get yourself the best versoin available?

Hell, if you want the Show experience but want a system that won't be replaced anytime soon, grab a Vita and The Show on there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another price drop on the PS3 sometime this year.
