    Collision Awareness

I thought Collision awareness would stop the annoying players occupying the same space at the same time thus going through each other. I read that this new feature would get rid of that and other things like in slides. Well, watch the lastest clip of the Angels and Rangers (the 17 min one). I saw the pitcher walking back to the mound from home, and the batter coming up, and he walked through him. It was just part of his body but still. Therefore, this has not been fixed.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show. I've been playing for years, but I thought they would have this fixed by now. It's just a cosmetic thing. It will not stop me from purchasing '12 or '13. But MVP never had this problem. And seeing 2K license is running out, Sony needs to make these little changes that will make a difference when they get some real competition.

for me its difficult to make a judgment on such a small sample, you would probably need to play several games to accurately see how the Collision Awareness is working. I'm almost positive that SCEA is not lying to us about improvements.

I seen what your talking about. The pitcher grazed the batter on the way back to the mound. The only thing he did not to is say "excuse me".

            Re: Collision Awareness

Though I don't blame you for wanting this "fixed," I'm pretty sure the devs were referring to In-Play animations.

This sounds like one of the in-between-plays / automated animations that is a result from the play ending and the animations "resetting" so to speak, that they probably didn't feel the need to work on. Or maybe it was more complicated than that.

            I could be wrong...

This just tells you that people here are so perfectionist! They won't be satisfied unless they see airbag deploying just before players collide like they saw in that video!

If I can see it in a 17 min demo, then they probably didn't fix it the way I thougtht they would. What I've seen was more players moving out the way. Which is fine with me. I did see on the replay where the bat went throught the catcher, but everything went so fast that is was barely noticable. Of course, I had to replay it over. LOL

I not saying they lied. I may have just miss understood what they meant by collision awareness.

Funny. As I stated earlier. It's just cosmetic. But if the developers for MVP05 can do it, why hasn't SCEA been able to. Not going to stop me from playing anyway.

And it was just something I was wondering if anyone esle had issue with. And you don't. Then don't repond if you have nothing to bring to the table on the topic.

Spend some time on the gtplanet forum for Gran Turismo, then, and only then will you see what the true definition of ungrateful, perfectionist gamers are, lol

Was this a post-play event or cut scene? If so, that might be why. They might have only provided collision awareness for in-play events.

Well, I meant to bring some humor to the table... but I do realize I'm quite lame in this forum.

The devs (like Ramone@SCEA) have repeatedly said just because some other game has done it, it doesn't mean it easy or makes sense to do in this particular game.

I think collision detection is definitely a welcome addition, but I wouldn't get carried away by what happens in a sort of cut scene... I care mostly about what happens in the field that affects the gameplay itself, and it's kinda hard to see the new system in action in all these videos.

For example, I wouldn't care about collision between the bat and catcher if the system isn't in place for interference, etc.

Yes. I think it was when Arod got caught stealing and was heading back to the dugout.
