    PS3 to Vita save

Ive just been reading another forum and I have a huge concern.

Firstly someone said the cloud save feature wont work using European PSN accounts. Can anyone confirm this?

Its not that big a deal as long as you can just transfer your save using the USB directly from PS3 to Vita. Is this an option? Im not bothered about using the cloud save as long as I can do that.

Please say I can because I only bought a Vita for this feature! lol.

If not I guess I'll be playing 2 franchises.

The game isn't out yet, so nobody except the devs can confirm this.

But I'd be surprised if you cannot use the (default) cloud save with any PSN account. If you can play the Show online you should be able to use the cloud as well, unless SCEA somehow decides to unreasonably restrict usage.

      Thanks

Do you know if you HAVE to use the cloud save feature or can you just transfer your file the traditional way?

Would be good to get some more information about how all of this will work in general.

I think somebody asked the same question in another thread, but personally I haven't seen a definitive answer on that question...

I haven't hooked up my Vita to PS3 yet to see how things work between them with regard to file transfer with Content Manager... I should try some time...

If we can simply transfer any raw files then I expect the method to work, unless somehow the save file format is different for PS3 and Vita which I doubt. But don't quote me on that...

          Re: PS3 to Vita save

WHen you hook up your vita to the playtation and sinc the two, everytime after that when you hook it up, the first screen you see on the vita is a transfer screen. It asks you if you want to transfer files from ps3 to vita or vice versa. This is probably the second way besides the cloud that you can transfer your save file from ps3 to vita. I have already transfered my music from ps3 to my vita by plugging the vita into the ps3 via usb.

Can you transfer game save files as well? Unless they are totally compatible between the two versions, I'd think it would be prevented...

You can transfer save files on the Vita to the PS3 for "backup", just as you can for the PSP as well (there is a feature in the XMB for that).

You can also back up the digital Vita games on the PS3 for memory card management.

Can you then "restore" the backed up Vita save file on PS3? I think that's what the OP wants to know I assume...

Also this just came to my mind... The online server for the Show gets shutdown after a new game comes out. Does that mean, say, if I keep playing MLB 12 for a couple more years after MLB 13 is out, we cannot use the cloud save for MLB 12? (Or maybe the cloud storage does not care which version is being saved...)

yeah that is what I'd like to know.

I'm playing happily along on the PS3 then something comes up.
Can I save then transfer that save file from PS3 to Vita and Viola play on the move? Once home can I then directly transfer the same save file back to PS3?

I know how to transfer and backup I just need to know if you can transfer the playable save between systems without using the cloud.

I hope the transfer speed is not too slow. With RTTS, it can take several minutes to upload a save file from USB drive.

                        Re: PS3 to Vita save

OK. For transferring your save files between the Vita and PS3, you use the cloud transfer method. The transfer is really quick, and this is NOT the same "cloud save" as you get with PlayStation Plus. This runs in the MLB 12 server environment.

Users are limited to one file per mode per PlayStation Network Account, which can be overwritten as many times as you'd like. The modes supported for cloud saves are:

                        Franchise
                        Season
                        Road to the Show

On the availability to transfer in you're in a region outside of North America, Chris Cutliff is trying to get a definitive answer from the network team, but here is what he said so far:

"In regards to importing both platform versions of MLB 12 and cloud saves in
Europe, I'll have to inquire and get back to you. I believe the NP
authentication process is checking against the U.S. PlayStation Network
(PSN) for the cloud saves to work so this may be problematic for the
Europe region unless of course they have a PS3 from the U.S."

                          Re: PS3 to Vita save

                          Thanks for the information.

Anyone who has both versions tried this out yet?

It baffles me that you cant just transfer the save using your USB cable? I know most people do have the internet but what if you dont?

It would be good to also get confirmation on the Non US accounts as there are a lot of people outside of America who have bought both versions (Just look at the Europe thread).

Should I just use my online pass for my USA PS3 account and delete my European Vita account and open a USA one?

This blows if its the case. I bought A vita solely for this function and its looking like it may be problematic for us Rest of the world people. Hopefully we can get a Dev or someone from SCEA to clarify things on this matter soon.

I don't have the game yet, but that will be one thing I will check out when I get home from work on Tuesday and get a chance with both versions of the game. I think the user FLIGHTWHITE has copies of both versions, maybe you can try PM-ing him to see if he can check it out.

                              Re: PS3 to Vita save

I am UK-based, have both versions of the game (arrived this morning!) and am also concerned about the cross-save functionality. I will try and test it out tonight once I get a chance to play, but I'm getting less and less confident.

Dedicating my Vita to a US PSN account is a non-starter, so I really hope there's a way to get this working for us 'rest-of-the-world' folks.

More from me once I've checked it out.

Edit: Ah, will it be possible to test this before the official release day? Will the servers be available? Who knows...
