Fielding a ball at 3b is a totally different beast than fielding a ball in the middle. And like what was said earlier it wasn't exactly a routine ball.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Examples in Gameplay: Part 2

I have some feedback for Russell and the Show Game Designers regarding video #7.

As a baserunner, we are tought to remain in foul territory before, during and shortly after the pitch when leading off from third.

As the pitcher goes through his windup, we are creeping towards homeplate, trying to time so that all of our weight is on our front foot as the catcher receives the pitch.

If it is taken or swung at and missed we then peek at the third baseman to see if he is at the bag. If he isn't we sag and stay with out lead. If he is at the bag, we then cross into fair territory and head back to the bag, so that we may obstruct the third baseman and potentially get hit by the snap throw.

In Video #7 the baserunner is on the foul line with his body facing the pitcher. He should be 3 to 5 feet behind the foul line with his chest facing the catcher but his hips facing the pitcher.

Great idea. Good job, OS.

Love the hustle. Are we going to have a rating affecting that, so the Eckstein kind of guys can be distinguished from the Bobby Bonillas?

Thanks to all that helped with the Baltimore Orioles roster, and to N51_rob for making me an OS premium member.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Examples in Gameplay: Part 2

Agree with Skyboxer. A middle IF should not have the exact defensive rating at 3B - the angles off the bat are different, the reaction time is different, and the spin of the ball is different. Does this mean they should muff every ball that comes their way? No. But SCEA didn't say that was the case, they only said they would take a ratings hit.

I guess you can never please everyone - first people complain that players playing out of position aren't penalized enough and now we're complaining because they are.

Don't get #6 or 8 though.
I wasn't sure about #8 either. I watched it a few times and it looks like they were just showing how the spin (and trajectory) of the ball changes with each bounce on the grass (or the bat). Subtle, but cool nonetheless...
