Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Walkoff winner for the buccos.

Game started off with Presley Robbing Sizemore of a homerun it was beautiful. Pirates get the lead on a barmes single and karstens sac fly. Sizemore will get into one fully with a 2 run bomb. We go into extra's and McGehee wins it on a rbi single up the middle.

Had several different kind of doubles and a ringing triple by presley where he used his speed and a bounce off the wall.

Was a great game

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Well I've found my pitching Heaven as far as getting walks. I've modified some sliders but the key is the "rule" of having to have at least 1/2of the pulse outside the k zone. This forces me to stay at edges and the results so far are great for me.
The only time the rule is not applied is when up 4 or more.

That along with being able to see better when batting and getting walks there also = gonna be a sweet. Baseball year

My last game i threw 7 total walks and drew 4.

Out getting dinner now and can't wait to get back into it.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Yup my plate discipline is improving rapidly as well.

First game: 18 K, 0 BB (embarrassing tbh)
Second game: 12 K, 3 BB
Third game: 8 K, 6 BB
Fourth game: 5 K, 2 BB

Unfortunately I still can't hit, but it'll come. I'm generally walking 2-4 per game with 6-9 K's which is bang on as well.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Aub;

Read your franchise impressions.
Good stuff.
I agree on most of it...including the draft classes. We asked for even bigger variances and the A's and B's to start higher.
Who knows...?
Hopefully, for '13 they let us edit them ahead of time.

In another area of franchise there is one little thing bothering me. It's to do with the lineup logic. They had contact play more of a key role in the leadoff spot....and while I think that's an important thing....one thing they should have also added was the CPU to look at power as well(meaning if power is greater than XX....ignore him from the leadoff spot)
One place I'm seeing it working out of place is St. Louis. If Jon Jay(leadoff) gets injured...instead of Furcal moving to the leadoff spot...it's Beltran because he's so far ahead in contact(even though Furcal has much more speed)
I'm a 30 team control guy...so I control all the lineups anyway....but this just screams for my idea of giving each player(in the editor) lineup spots, so that he would only be used in this-this or this.(for instance, Beltran would get 3-4-5-6...Furcal...1-2-6-7-8)...if the leadoff guy got injured...Beltran would not see the 1 spot.(unless there is nobody with a spot listed...then the "old" logic would apply).
Not a big deal...but it's there.

M.K.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

I know when I wrote my first impression I said I couldn't get the hang of pulse pitching but after hitting the practice field and playing a full game with pulse pitching I think I saw the light. Even though I lost, I struck out 7 and walked 3 with Pineda. Pulse pitching and the game this year is very rewarding when you get the hang of it.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Figured out something about practice modes in the main menu. You can't pick which type when starting the mode but when you are in the mode there is an option called "change mode" that let's you pick between the different options. Weird setup but at least they are there. Still no fielding or baserunning options that I can find.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

The more I play the more I'm just very very happy with the game.
Just finished the second game of franchise and even though we are 0-2 I'm having great fun.

We are tied for 14th as far as drawing walks and that's unheard of for me. So great to be able to make out the pitches and draw walks. Currently have 8 in 2 games.

Also I am throwing walks as I've walked 14 in 2 games. and am ranked 29th lol
Obviously that's not something you want to be having issues with but I Love it.

Hit types in 2 games:
out of 15 hits: 10 singles, 2 doubles and 3 hr's (Teixeira, Swisher and Martin each with 1)

I'm off until Thursday and am going to play until I drop!! (in between my Honey Do List)
