Is there a diff between contact swing vs power swing
I just hit a massive 440 ft home run with Andruw jones using contact swing. Do you have a better chance of making contact with contact swing vs power swing?Tags: None -

You definitely have a better chance of making contact swinging with O vs square. After each swing check out the PCI and it will show you the circle is much larger using a contact swing vs a power swing.

Use contact when your in the hole 1-2 0-2. I use normal 95% of time in hitters counts. Every now and then when I feel I really know what's coming on a 3-1 or 3-2 and my big bat's are up I will take a shot with Power. Now Playing on PS5:

Yeah, when you're using analog hitting you press circle or square to choose a swing type. If you turn the PCI on, you can see the dispersion marks of the PCI change a little bit. Contact swings make the area of it bigger, but it's not as solid in the middle, and vice-versa for a power swing.Comment

Wait, maybe I'm confused on what PCI is. I thought it was the little graphic that popped up after every swing with the circle that shows basically what area you were swinging in and gives feedback on contact and timing. Maybe that is something different?Yeah, when you're using analog hitting you press circle or square to choose a swing type. No thats just the swing result analyzer data that shows timing and where you swing actually was.
The PCI is the yellow "blob" that (if you have it on so you can see it) shows your contact area, size etc...
Anyways, i never use power swing. I've been just using normal and contact only and yes hrs can be hit with contact. I may switch that up though and go back to using it with my "rules" of only during 3-1 counts and 3-0 counts when i'm down 2 or more runs past the 5th inning. I also only will use for hitters with 65+ power ratings.Last edited by Skyboxer; 03-07-2012, 11:26 AM.Joshua:

That is also his PCI that shows up in the swing analysis. It shows his aimed location in relation to the pitch. Also, he is able to see how dynamic in size it is based on his swing type.No thats just the swing result analyzer data that shows timing and where you swing actually was.

X is a normal swing, O is a contact swing.
Like Armor said, I only use O when I'm in protect the plate mode and just trying to fight off pitches when I'm down in the count.Last edited by the_future420; 03-07-2012, 12:52 PM.Comment

Thanks, does it reset automatically after each pitch or do I have to hit a button to go back to contact after say, I swing and miss?Yeah, when you're using analog hitting you press circle or square to choose a swing type. Re: Is there a diff between contact swing vs power swing
New to the Show..
I had no idea that X was regular swing (don't laugh at the no0b..) until this morning. Up until then, I was only pressing O, and getting between 4-7 hits per game, but not scoring many runs, extra base hits, and definitely not hitting any homeruns.
After using X in one game, I hit two homeruns, had three doubles, and scored 8 runs on 16 hits.
Now with O, like someone said, it allows you to fight off bad pitches to eventually get one that you like. I was hitting an in sane amount of foul balls with contact swing. I had one AB where I fouled off seven pitches in a row on a full count.Comment
