No Announcers

I don't see anyone else having this problem, but here's the situation: I can't hear any of the announcers or play-by-play. I've tried every game mode. I've looked at all the options. I've completely deleted the game and reinstalled, twice.

Nothing.

Using the 10 gig install option.

Any idea? Am I alone?

Sound like (no pun intended) you need to adjust your PS3 audio output settings. Setting them back to default should fix the problem. Do you know if you have tinkered with them in the past?

I'm not sure this is going to fix the problem. If he's having the same issue as mean, on random games the announcers are gone, but you can still hear the fans, stadium announcer, etc. Just none of the main three announcers. It is weird. If I just down my ps3 and restart, they come on again. Then maybe like 5-6 games later, same thing happens.

Anyway, I think this is what the OP is saying.

Fiddling with sound systems was futile. I hear everything in the game, except the announcers.

I hear the PA, I hear the fans, chatter, sfx, etc. I just can't hear the commentators and play-by-play in any mode. (And yes, their respective volume controls are maxed).

Seems like this is a bug of some sort. Maybe we should put his in the bugs/glitches thread. If you shut down your PS3 and restart, the announcers should come back for another few games.

Might be a long shot, but you don't happen to have their volume sliders turned all the way down do you? Or happen to do the mute code for each? LOL

Heh, no the volume sliders are up. As the other guy mentioned, rebooting the PS3 seems to work for a bit, as I now have announcers, but I suspect this will come back. Looks like an obvious bug of some sort.

Same thing has happened to me with no announcers. I did the 10 gig install as well.

i had the problem to. I went into the ps3 sound settings and set it to auto and then i could here them.

Nope that didn't work. Even turning the ps3 off and on i still never hear any announcers. This blows

I went back to my audio in my ps3 settings, did auto again and it seems like it worked. Thats odd. I never touched them settings.

i had this happen after Chase Utley hurt himself swinging and then i replaced him, i lost the announcers for the rest of the game. Haven't tried it since, hope it still works heh
