So is San Diego Studios the same company as 989 Studios? I'm seriously thinking of buying all the games in the series just to see how they progressed. Yeah, I know I have no life, but all these old Baseball games are dirt cheap anyway.

How long have you been playing Sony's MLB series?
For a while I've been curious about this series, and it's origins. I didn't really start playing it until MVP died after the 2005 season. I started with MLB 06 The Show. I bought MLB 98 for the PS1 which I *think* is the versy fist game in the long running series.

Yep, San Diego Studios is a subset of what was 989 Studios and it is the same team (but now much bigger) that originated the MLB series on PS1. -
Re: How long have you been playing Sony's MLB series?
I got my PS3 in 07-08', but I don't think I played The Show until the 2009 version came out.
I can just imagine how much my life would have been better with the versions previous to 2009 lol.Comment

Been playing The Show since 06. On the PS3 since 09 (when my PS2 died). Never looking back. This is a great game and somehow, SCEA figures out a way to make the game even better.Comment

Re: How long have you been playing Sony's MLB series?
94-95: World Series Baseball
96-97: Triple Play
98-00: MLB (so 98 was my first Sony MLB game)
01: Triple Play
02: High Heat
03: World Series Baseball
04-05: MVP
06: None
07-present: MLB
Always thought the MLB games on the PS1 were highly underrated.Comment

Believe it or not when The Show first came out a buddy of mine said it was like The Bigs. Same idea he said which was terrible.
So I skipped it in favor of 2K.
I decided to rent '10 from Gamefly and bought it within an hour of playing it.
So sadly only since '10 but will never turn back now.

Re: How long have you been playing Sony's MLB series?
Since MLB 2006 (the 2005 release). After MLB 2k5 failed miserably in the glitch/bug department and trying out but not being wowed by MVP 05 I turned to the MLB series. I was immediately impressed how the game sorta blended 2k's (old) zone hitting and MVP's pitching as well as the smooth animations.
I then bought the PSP version right after the system launched and it kept me busy during my ridiculously long bus trip to Florida and made it much easier to sit through.
Hard to believe it's been seven years, 3 consoles (4 when I get a Vita) and two gaming generations I've been with this series. The Signature of New YorkComment

Re: How long have you been playing Sony's MLB series?
-1991, 92, 93: RBI Baseball (Genesis)
-1994, 95, 96: World Series Baseball (Genesis)
-1996, 97: Frank Thomas' Big Hurt Baseball, MLB Pennant Race (PS1)
-1997, 98: All Star Baseball, Ken Griffey Jr Baseball (N64)
-1998, 99, 2000: Triple Play Baseball (PS1)
-2001, 02, 03: nothing except maybe All Star Baseball. These years were the worst for Baseball IMO. I lost interest in Baseball games during these years but I didn't try all them, I'll admit that.
-2004, 05: MVP Baseball (PS2)
-2006, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12: MLB The Show (Thank god for this series!)Comment
