I used Auto in 10 and 11 but I've decided to go completely manual for everything this year. I freaking love it. The satisfaction you get when you successfully steal a base is awesome.

I also used to use auto fielding and throwing but switched all that to manual and love it as well. Turning a close double play is one of the best feelings you can get out of this game (especially if there are two or more runners on and this gets you out of the inning). I do make some mistakes but I'm getting better. I was pretty new to baseball in general when I got 10 so that is part of the reason I used auto but now that I know the game very well (much thanks to playing the show) I'm starting to love doing everything myself. Also switched from timing to zone batting.

Fielding is the one I haven't given up on auto just yet. Might switch to assist though as online games are getting me used to having to field on my own.

And you are definitely right about stealing on manual. It feels great when you call a steal on the perfect pitch and get in there clean.

I use assisted. I take control when needed. I also always control the lead runner. It took me a while but I learned the default running control (with the left stick) and have no real issues with baserunning anymore. I always control stealing as well.

MVP 2005 had it nailed. I agree with that sentiment.

But once you get the hang of it. Using assisted base running with the default controls is a snap.

I use manual for baserunning, and I can't even imagine using auto for it. It's not hard to control base runners.

First of all, I almost never use L1 and R1 to control all runners. I always select each runner to determine where they go (just point to the runner with the left stick and use the icon of the base you want them to go). It's that simple.

I like a lot of speed on my teams, so I couldn't imagine not controlling steals.

Maybe I'm missing something. I don't know what the dilemma is.

Did you log over 1000 hours playing MVP '05? A lot of us (myself included) sure did and those controls are burned into our brains when it comes to baseball games. In fact, if you use timing hitting and meter pitching the only difference in controls in the two games is the baserunning and they are WAY different.
